The Lothians region
The beautiful city of Edinburgh is an enchanting place for a winter white break. With vibrant Christmas and New Year celebrations, excellent shopping and New Year favourites like J M W Turner’s stunning watercolour collection at the National Galleries - you’ll be spoilt for choice! What’s more, the surrounding coast and countryside of East, West and Midlothian is perfect for bracing beach walks and invigorating rambles along the Pentland Hills and country parks like Beecraigs near Linlithgow.
New Town is an ideal base for a trip to Edinburgh, the architecture is amazing and you can see so many things on foot, no need for the car or bus. The New Town has lots of great shops, including Harvey Nichols, George Street is only 5 minutes walk away. You will also find plenty of exciting bars and restaurants all within walking distance of the apartment.
Edinburgh's New Town is not that new. Built in the mid-to-late 18th Century, in response to overcrowding in what is now known as the Old Town, Edinburgh's New Town is a marvel of urban planning, combining elegant architecture with spacious and comfortable housing. New Town buildings are typically of a neo-classical style sometimes even with grandiose, graecian pillars outside and tall ceilings and decorative friezes and trimmings inside.
The interiors of most New Town residences, have been modernised as flats and office spaces. Even the mews buildings, that once housed servants and stables, are considered desirable properties.
However, the original character of the Georgian era New Town, with its cobbled roads, pillars, and sandstone block facades is preserved today thanks to building codes that stipulate even the wrought iron railings must be painted a specific colour - black.
These New Town residences were built along an integrated and harmonious plan with residences set near pleasant communal gardens and attractive views.

"Beautiful house, great find!"
We recently stayed at Cumberland Mews as a group of 8 girls. The house is absolutely beautiful. Lovely split floor kitchen and living area and the master bedroom is absolutely lovely, with quite a special bathroom! The house is in an excellent location, really easy to get into the centre from and I would really recommend this to anyone wanting to visit Edinburgh whether it be a family or a group of friends like we were. It would suit anyone... Thank you to Molly for showing us around and being so helpful. An absolutely lovely weekend, thank you for having us!
I am delighted to here your girlie weekend was a great success and we hope to welcome you back for more trips to Edinburgh soon.

"5 star property, would definitely book again"
I booked Cumberland Mews for two nights for my hen do. It was the perfect accomodation for us, much better value for a group than staying in a hotel. The property was beautifully furnished and very modern. Plenty of space for our large group. We all really enjoyed staying there and I'm so glad I booked it.

Myself and 5 friends stayed in the apartment for a weekend away. We were very pleased with the apartment, great location and everything we needed was provided. Although we were very unhappy when we re… More
Thank you for your review. The reason we made a charge was because it was more than 1 towel, it was quite a few that were badly marked and the stains did not come out. The owners are providing 4 star accommodation and are therefore required to provide linen and towels of a certain standrad, as opposed to cheap brown towels.
I am sorry you were disaapointed, but if every geust did this, we would simply have to replace towels every week which would result in having to charge far higher rates.
