Home description

La Mouette, on the beautiful property of Le Vieux Presbytere, is light and spacious with views over the pretty garden to the surrounding countryside. Perfect for 2 couples, a family or a group of friends, the gite sleeps 6 maximum. The pace of life is slow in the Gers, no need to rush anywhere and with such a small amount of traffic it makes for a very relaxing holiday. Sun yourself by the salt water swimming pool adjacent to the gite, or explore the lovely old bastide villages and daily markets. This is a gourmet's paradise with foie gras and armagnac being the specialities of the region. A smaller gite is also available at Le Vieux Presbytere and B & B in L'Atelier, a beautiful bedroom and bathroom with private access.

The Midi-Pyrenees / Gers region

The Gers is one of the most undiscovered parts of South West France. Undulating green countryside covered in oak forests, fields of sunflowers and vineyards, give way to spectacular views of the Pyrenees. There are many 'bastide' (fortified) villages which tell stories of the area's long history. This is foie gras and armagnac country where the people are friendly and the roads are uncluttered. The area enjoys a temperate climate with long warm to hot summers, short winters with cold snaps and glorious warm colourful autumns. The area also has easy access to airports, Pau, Toulouse & Bordeaux, a 2 hour drive to the Pyrenees for skiing or walking and the beautiful long sandy beaches of the Atlantic (2 hours).

Eauze / Noulens area

There is a good selection of shops in the local towns; supermarkets, pharmacies, bakeries, hairdressers etc. Eauze has an exceptionally good market every Thursday morning. There are plenty of interesting historical sites within the local area, very good walks and pretty swimming lakes. The nearby town of Vic-Fezensac (15 kms) has a good selection of festivals from bull fighting in May, Tempo Latino in July and night markets running through July and August. The motor racing circuit at Nogaro (20kms) hosts Formula 3, classic cars and motorbike racing. The 1st 2 weeks of August is the internationally acclaimed Jazz at Marciac (40 mins drive). In the local villages, at weekends from April to September, you can always find and are welcomed to; a village fete, vide grenier sale (a French car boot equivalent), humane bull fighting (no bulls killed) or organised dinners and lunches.

Guestbook

What an idyllic and beautiful spot for a holiday. Many thanks to Jackie & Richard for their friendly reception and for looking after all my needs so excellently. Recommended to old and young. Maurice W. (90 yrs old)

We could not have asked for a better week, both in terms of accommodation and hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble and we do recommend Jackie's cooking and Richard's butler service! Geoff & Sue Y.

This is our second visit and once again we have experienced wonderful hospitality in such tranquil and beautiful surroundings. Our B & B accommodation has been charming..thankyou for your thoughtfulness - we love your home, the dogs, the area and we will certainly return. Angela & Vince R.

We've just had a fabulous two weeks here. The cottage has been ideal and Jackie & Richard great hosts. The village fete and escargolade was definitely one of the highlights! Murray & Sally S.
