The South East England / Sussex region

Sussex-by-the-Sea has many coastal resorts - mainly Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Worthing, Brighton & Hove, Eastbourne and Hastings, but Eastbourne has the enviable reputation of a record of the hours of Sunshine and generally a milder gentler climate than the other resorts. Access to London is quick and easy by train. The most well known geological feature is the South Downs stretching from the Petersfield/Winchester area right across the county until it reaches Eastbourne.
The Eastbourne / Sovereign Harbour South area
The Victorian seaside resort of Eastbourne holds the record for the number of hours of sunshine per year. There are many entertainments available in the town centre which is about 2.5 miles away from Sovereign Harbour. The bandstand is central to the seafront entertainments and every evening in the Summer you can listen to a range of music being played live in the bandstand. On Wednesday evenings it is classical night ending with a beach front fireworks display.
There is a modern shopping Mall in the town and a range of speciality shops all around. In the Harbour itself you have, within walking distance, the Waterfront with a range of restaurants and speciality shops. Nearby is a large supermarket and other stores. There is a walkway/cycle way from the Harbour to the Town centre.

Had a really lovely fortnight in this apartment. It is very comfortably furnished and has everything you need. Plenty of boats going in and out of harbour. We saw plenty of birds from the balcony including little egerts, ring plovers and dunlin. We also had a seal on the beach when the tide was out on a few occassions. Eastbourne is a beautiful town and had lots of different things to do in and around the area. We thought Michlam Priory and Herstmonceaux castle were stunning and also enjoyed a night of Banger racing at the Arlington stadium. Soverign harbour has a good variety of restaurants and we didnt have a bad meal in any of them. We will definitly be coming back. |
