SeaGardens
About the home
100m or so behind the seafront in a central but genteel part of town, the apartment is a short walk from theatres, shops & nightlife. The Wintergarden theatre, Congress Theatre and conference centres are around the corner in and off Compton St, and it is a short walk to the lawn tennis grounds. ESL English Language Schools are a short walk away. Shared private gardens of over an acre (like in the movie Notting Hill) are at your disposal while you are in residence. 2 bedrooms plus a study which with double bed, acts as a third bedroom, and with a comfy double sofa bed in the lounge room, means that sleeping for up to 9 people can be accommodated (between 2-4 doubles and/or 2 singles can be provided in 4 separate areas of the apartment)
A lovely split level apartment on two floors, the apartment has a big and stylish kitchen and themed lounge with high rafter ceiling, high gloss benchtops and luxury mattress and bedding selections (a mixture of feather pillows and duck down duvets and conventional pillows and duvets) and your choice of doubles, 2 singles and/or some very comfortable double sofa beds! Additional mattresses are put by in case you'd like a softer or firmer selection!
Eastbourne claims to be in region getting the most sunny days in the UK! It has calm beaches with just enough surf to make things fun, but with and easy swimming as well as sea kayaking, jet skiing, a yacht marina, canoeing and windsurfing all on the outdoor menu. Its bandstands host battles of the bands, there are markets, fairs and fireworks throughout many weekends, and it has a movie studio where Brighton Rock and other famous films are made. Turn left to reach the Devonshire and Congress theatre venues and the Wintergarden, which are round the left-hand corner from your apartment, while the conference centres, town centres, most of the bigger hotels and galleries are all a few minutes walk. Charles Darwin wrote part of his work here, Debussy finished his La Mer round the corner from you in the Grand Hotel where you can go for coffee, and the beach (the part which is a short walk in front of you) was a favourite with our Queen Elizabeth when she was little.
You have a row of boutique shops and a gallery a few steps away from your apartment, round the right-hand corner from your apartment by the Grand Hotel, including men's fashion, local photography and landscapes, a gourmet cafe-restaurant and a fine foods delicatessen with an emphasis on English fare. Bus 12A runs from Eastbourne Pier to Brighton Pier if you fancy a day trip, or take the train for a faster ride (35-40 mins).
Your apartment has a choice of mattress types and offers a peaceful sleep as well as abundant hot water and a 36 inch TV screen and 3-4 seater sofa and 4-6 person dining table. A peaceful sea breeze blows across the gardens and into the windows on both floors. We keep a good selection of DVDs and books for all tastes and ages and a few board games for cozy days in! Our sky tv digital box gets excellent reception and many international channels from Europe, Asia and America are available.
Free internet/wifi is available 1 GB by USB dongle while free WiFi is also offered in nearby cafes and shops.
The Eastbourne campus of Brighton University is a short walk from the apartment, or you may visit Napoleon's Armoury Tower at the end of your street in the seafront park! There also is a glass fronted cafe there, with 180 degree view of the ocean, and some sheltered swimming beaches, while along to the left you'll find a lifeguard post and a beach coffee shop/sandwich shop! Stroll a few minutes or so further to reach the pier with its amusement arcades, knick-knack and jewelry shops, ice cream, donut and fresh seafood, or ascend the stairs to shop at the local farmer's markets which are often held along the walkway there.

Enquire nowThe South East England / Sussex region
Said to be one of the sunniest places in England, you can find lovely weather and sunshine here from May to October. In 2011 at easter we had the kind of hot days when everyone buys ice cream and kids get out their water wings. In England overall we have had a mild summer, while in September in Eastbourne we have again had warm sunny periods and swimmers and beach worshippers have congregated by the beachside coffee shops and braved the gentle waves. Sussex is one of the prettiest parts of England and each town has its own character and different history. From Napoleon's tower at the end of your street on the seafront, to the Roman ruins under the Queens Hotel, to the 200 year old Redoubt fortress , to the 12th century castle at Pevensey, Eastbourne is rich in history. Have a pint at the 12th century Lamb Inn pub and learn of its Smugglers Tunnel, or walk westwards from your apartment to the centre of Old Town or ascend Beachy Head nature reserve and follow the trails around the cliff tops.
The Eastbourne area
Buy an icecream or a pastry at the western end of the beachfront as you walk down the promenade above the sea, towards Beachy Head. It's a nice place to swim, near the secluded beach chalets at these most sheltered of Eastbourne's beaches.
A little further west for the cyclist or driver is the Cuckmere river, where you can hire a kayak and explore the gentle streams as they wind inland. Nearby you can enjoy a dinner for two and wine at reasonable prices at the local pub.
Day trips to roman villas, ancient village churches, and old towns of the Cinque Ports days are all within easy reach. The opera, theatre and major art exhibitions that come to Eastbourne are held within walking distance of your apartment. A day trip to Brighton to dare the reverse bungee or fair rides can be followed by a night out in Eastbourne clubbing or dining at a range of Italian, Thai, Chinese, English, Greek, Arabic, Belgian and seafood speciality restaurants offering local fare.
