Booked this flat for one week over Christmas 2012. Absolutely delighted, well equipped flat and just what we wanted. If the weather had been better, it would have been perfect. Thanks |

I have just returned from a five day stay at Cuckmere house apartment in Pevensey and I must say it was a huge success. Firstly the apartment itself was spotless and had every facility required for a great self catering holiday. Situated a stones throw from the beach and with good travel links to all the surrounding areas this really is a good location for exploring the amazing East Sussex coast and countryside. Phil the owner, was only to pleased to pick us up from the nearby railway station when we arrived and made sure we had every thing we needed for are pleasent stay. My three year old son just loved the fact he could walk along the beach every evening. In all this is a great base for any holiday and I would definately be coming back soon. Response: Pleased you all had a good time, your always welcome back Phil |

When we arrived at the studio flat the place was so cold we could see our breath and it was warmer outside than in! The heating had been off for a few weeks as the property was empty, but could not be turned on until after midnight. A poor start. The 'heating' is economy 7 style with only 2 of the 'heaters' for the entire property. For those unfamiliar with economy 7 heating, it only comes on during the night and is supposed to take advantage of the lower priced electricity rates. You cannot turn it on during the day, you cannot set a thermostat to regulate the overall room temperature and the heat that is given off throughout the rest of the day is minimal. Essentially it is not suited to a winter holiday let. The layout and presentation of the flat is nice, but the whole set up inside with regard to the pre-pay meters and separate (and useless) heating supply is the kind of set up suited to those living on a very set budget who cannot afford to pay for bills when they arrive. this is not what I expect from a holiday let. The advert said there would be 20 pounds on each meter, there certainly wasn't that on there and upon arrival this had seemingly been reduced to 15 pounds and even that was not there. With the 'heating', water and cooking all on electricity, the money dwindles fast. The cost of the property went up as it was xmas, other adverts specify this, this one did not. Although it was agreed prior to my arrival. Phil was very helpful, providing extra heaters, etc. But these problems should not even arise. We booked for 7 nights and survived only 3 nights of these before leaving to return home to central heating and hot water on demand. in summary, fine for summer but you wuold be warmer in a tent in winter. Response: I think the review is very unfair, I have had an 80 year old lady living in the flat over the last two months, the coldest for years, who has been very happy and warm I might add. They did not operate the storage heaters correctly opening the boost control releasing all the heat in one hit. With regards the xmas rate, all rates are agreed before booking and paying a deposit, if you wasnt happy with the rate theres a simple answer, dont book. I was very surprised when they texted me stating they was returning home, Ive had nothing but positive comments about the flat. I suspect they just got bored sitting alone over xmas and decided to go home. The review is very unfair! |
