The South East England / Sussex region
There is much to see in the area around the town of Eastbourne. First and foremost there is the South Downs, now a National Park, which start just outside Eastbourne and run all the way across East and West Sussex until they finish at Petersfield in Hampshire. Within a short drive you can visit many charming downland villages.
Very special is the charming village of Alfriston.
Herstmonceux Castle is worth a visit as well as Pevensey Castle and Bay where the Normans landed in 1066.
A short drive along the A259 in an Easterly direction you come to Bexhill and Hastings - definitely worth a day trip.
The Eastbourne / Town Centre area
Eastbourne itself has much to offer. The Airbourne seafront air show in August is a real draw and ais well worth coming to Eastbourne for. The seafront is worthy of a mention particularly the carpet gardens and bandstand. Here you can listen to live music every evening throughout the Summer months. Wednesday evenings is classical night ending with the 1812 overture complete with a spectacular fireworks display.
There are many varied shops and restaurants to choose from all within walking distance of this flat. A short drive away is Sovereign Harbour where you can enjoy waterside dining inside or alfresco.
