The East Sussex region
Officially the sunniest spot in the UK, Eastbourne nestles at the foot of the South Downs and Beachy Head, with unbeatable walking and cycling to be enjoyed. Brighton is just 25 miles away, and Hastings 17 miles.
Whether you fancy taking in a West End show or concert at Eastbourne's fabulous bandstand, enjoying a stroll on the pier, roller skating along the promenade or even having a go at some water sports, Eastbourne can offer it all. The town centre boasts a large selection of shops, theatres, bars, clubs and restaurants.
There is a town centre cinema (the Curzon) and a larger multiplex cinema at the modern Sovereign Harbour retail park a few miles out of town. The apartment is very close to the famous Devonshire Park tennis courts – home to the AEGON International Tennis Championships.
The town centre has an indoor shopping mall (Arndale Centre) and a wide selection of high street retail outlets, while the Enterprise Centre (near the train station) and South Street (at the top of this street) offer more quirky, independent choices.
Eastbourne enjoys a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, and pubs.
The unique bandstand is at the heart of the seafront and during the holiday season plays host to many visiting bands. In the evening there are often concerts and firework displays to enjoy. The Victorian pier provides traditional amusements for all the family and is the starting point for the open top bus sightseeing tour of Eastbourne and the surrounding area.
It's also a family friendly resort - our lovely clean beach has been featured on TV, and kids will also love the Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway, Treasure Island and Fort Fun, the Sovereign Centre Fun Pool with flume and waves, and a wealth of further attractions easily accessible in the region.
If the weather is gloomy, the Sovereign Centre is the local swimming pool which boasts a wave machine and slide amongst its attractions! There are also indoor play areas at both Fort Fun and Treasure Island on the seafront, and in the town centre is the Playstation (behind the train station/Enterprise Centre) and Leo's (Pevensey Road).
You are in central Eastbourne and within easy walking distance of the town centre, train station, theatres, bars, cinema, restaurants and seafront.
The seafront promenade provides a safe location for a daily stroll, a chance for the children to let off steam on scooters or skates. The well manicured carpet gardens and lawns provide a pleasant backdrop and a trip on the Dotto train or the Beachy Head boat is always a hit! Why not enjoy a game of pitch and putt golf or boule at Helen Gardens. From here it's a short walk up onto the South Downs where you can appreciate spectacular views of the town and the superb Sussex coastline.
Eastbourne is a great base for exploring the South Downs. The historic South Downs Way follows the cliff tops from Eastbourne to Chichester with breathtaking views of the Seven Sisters. Nearby Cuckmere Haven is another excellent destination for walkers and cyclists – you can follow the meandering river along the well trodden path to the sea or picnic in Friston Forest. Beachy Head is another dramatic landmark and a popular place to visit, but don't stand too close to the edge!! It is also worth exploring some of the beautiful surrounding Sussex villages to seek out some great country pubs and enjoy stunning walks.

I'm really pleased that you enjoyed Thorne Lodge - the owner has been very thoughtful in his design and I think the location takes some beating, being so close to the town centre, the train station and also the seafront, and on a lovely quiet street.
Thanks again for coming back to us time after time!

Hello and thanks for finding time to review Thorne Lodge.
It's has only just become available but I'm convinced that it will prove very popular for all the reasons you enjoyed it.
The location really is perfect, close to the town centre, beach and all the attractions, with easy parking available.
The owner really has been very thoughtful with the high quality furnishings, which bring the period features, such as the high ceilings and huge sash windows, to life.
Thanks once again - I hope we see you again soon
