"Bra läge men inte värt pengarna"

Jättebra läge och det fanns två små uteplatser för kvällssol och morgonsol. Sovrummet var trevligt och sängarna bra. Tyvärr var stugan inte särskilt ren, vi fick börja med att diska bestick,… More

"Cute, cozy and comfortable"

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Monk's Cottage, it was a cold February evening when we arrived but the woodburner soon makes the cottage lovely and warm. The welcome gift of wine and milk were most appreciated and the area surrounding is great for exploring. The cottage has everything you need to make your stay comfortable and to cook for yourselves.
The only slight downside was no stand up shower, (but the bath does have a shower attachment), my partner is a bit tall for the bath at 6'5" but I'm sure most of us would be ok!
We had a great time and would recommend to others.

"cosy, friendly, relaxing. perfect."

This is a fab little cottage, super cosy and warm with a log burning stove.

The location is perfect for the nearby towns of Shaftesbury and Salisbury which are a 10 mile drive away. The nearest cash point and general grocers is in Sixpenny Handley, just 5 mins drive.

The BEST place to eat is the Horseshoe Inn in Ebbesbourne Wake. only 5 mile drive. Fab local Wessex cider which the owner can get for you in carry outs. We took two home! dogs allowed too as long as they are well behaved, like ours. they can expect a bowl of water and a few biscuits while you can expect excellent food cooked by the owner wife and a friendly relaxed atmosphere in amongst the locals. People regularly travel from Bournemouth just to eat there of an evening, it's that good!

Clyde is a lovely host who makes you feel very welcome and you quickly feel as if the cottage is really your home for your stay. We would definitely come back.

"Cosy retreat from the delightful British weather"

My partner and I stayed at monks cottage for 2 nights last weekend, and will most definitely be returning soon! The weather was atrocious, and the cottage was the perfect place to hide from the rain. We were also greeted by a lovely bottle of wine, which was warmly welcomed in the horrible weather!

The inglenook fire was easy to light and maintain, and the under floor heating was perfect for first thing in the morning whilst we were making breakfast. There was plenty of hot water, even in the mornings, and the kitchen appliances were easy to use. We spent the day Christmas shopping in Salisbury, which was only 20 minutes down the road, and then returned to Salisbury for dinner at Da Vinci's (a family run Italian that is well worth a visit). The cottage is just of the main road, so very easy to find, yet just far enough away that you don't hear get any traffic noise.

Overall, we will most definitely be returning to Monk's cottage, as it's perfect for spending the whole day inside watching films, or using as a base for visiting the nearby towns and attractions. Sadly, we did not get the opportunity to explore the surrounding countryside walks, but the owner is very knowledgeable on the local walks if the weather is nice enough.

Looking forward to returning, and we hope next time the sun will come out!
