Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 7
Lovely residential two bedroomed holiday cottage situated on the borders of Iffley village area, in Oxford city, in a quiet residential area, but close to everything you could want or need in Oxford!
The house is newly renovated with a modern kitchen and bathroom, new carpets etc. It is strictly non-smoking and not suitable for pets. There are excellent transport links by foot, bus, bike or car with free off street car parking for visitors.
From the sunny front garden you come into a welcoming comfortable lounge of sofa bed TV and DVD player and wood burner style stove for chilly evenings.
The kitchen is fully equipped including a large fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine, coffee machine, toaster etc. and the dining area is flexible seating four or six people comfortably. The dining area has French windows opening out onto a sunny safe enclosed back garden with lawns deck and safe barked play area for the kids!
Upstairs are two bedrooms, one double with walk in wardrobe and one twin bedroom and bathroom path and also with electric power shower.
All linen including towels supplied, and a gourmet welcome basket of organic local produce awaits your arrival!
The house is very well situated for visitors transport links.
It's an easy fifteen minute walk along the lovely riverside path to city centre, or a fifteen minute bike ride. Take your coffee with you and you can drink it watching the ducks and rowers go by, or wander along to lovely villages Iffley and Sandford on Thames. Walking along the river away from Oxford takes you to Abingdon, a traditional Oxfordshire County town, still with its butter cross.Walking, cycling and jogging along the river are popular activities for Oxford residents and visitors alike.
Further afield there are many leisure activities such as sailing, punting/rowing, horse riding as well as several indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis, badminton and outdoor and indoor fitness training
Once you've walked or cycled to the city centre, Oxford's many tourist, academic and cultural attractions need little introduction.
Practicalities: there are several local supermarkets within a couple of minutes walk with a full range of foods including fresh bread, organic and gluten free produce. Larger superstores are plentiful around the Oxford ring (three minutes drive away). There are also several good delicatessens nearby. However, if you prefer not to cook, there are many excellent restaurants and take-aways a short walk from the house including international cuisines: Indian, Chinese, Nepalese, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Polish Thai…
Local buses go into and out of town from the bus stop 20 yards away. Several local car hire companies operate locally including the new Carshare operators, Zipcar and Commonwheels, which offer car hire by the hour.
Buses to London leave every ten minutes from Oxford city centre, with a bus stop ten minutes walk away from the house. The maniline train station is in the city centre and offers nationwide connections as well as fast trains to London, the south coast etc. In fact, many people who want to visit London use Oxford as their residential base because it's cheaper and pleasanter than London accommodation, and cheaper! There are also frequent dedicated coach services for Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports leaving from convenient bus stops.
For children, in addition to the play area, there are several playgrounds and parks locally. For young children in weather good or bad, Donnington Doorstep family centre is just two minutes away, offering brilliant FREE creative play facilities, including painting, modelling, sand and messy play as well as dressing up sand pit etc.
We live nearby in case you have any problems or questions during your stay.
