At the end of a long farm track, deep in the West Sussex countryside, The Old Cowshed stands in the grounds of an ancient, Grade II listed 17th century farmhouse and is the perfect retreat for couples or a small family wishing to explore this highly attractive part of Southern England. A stay at The Old Cowshed will definitely give you a feel for life in the country; the owners manage 150 acres of grassland and chickens, ducks and geese roam freely in the area near the house.

Converted with great sensitivity to provide light, practical and spacious accommodation, including eco-friendly, ground source, underfloor heating, The Old Cowshed offers ample privacy to its guests, with its own south-facing, secluded garden area at the end of the building. Inside, the tastefully furnished, open plan, double height living area provides a convivial and welcoming space.

Large, open plan living room with exposed timber work and limestone flooring and comprising a sitting area with double sofa bed for alternative sleeping, woodburning stove and double doors leading to the garden, a dining area and a fitted kitchen area with integral appliances. Separate bedroom with 5ft bed and extra folding bed for a child. Shower room/wc with extra large cubicle, double width basin and heated towel rail.

Logs for woodburner, eco-friendly, ground source, underfloor heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included in the rent.

The surrounding area, part of The South Downs National Park, provides limitless opportunities for walking, with immediate access onto a public footpath, as well as walks across the owners' farmland - map provided. The Old Cowshed also provides easy access to a wide variety of attractions: the historic towns of Petworth (antique shops and Petworth House) and Midhurst (polo and golf at Cowdray Park) are about 20 minutes' drive while Arundel (12th century castle and Catholic cathedral), Goodwood (horse racing and Festival of Speed) and the cathedral city of Chichester are about 45 minutes. Chichester Harbour and West Sussex's beaches are a little further.

For shopping, the market town of Haslemere, on the borders of Surrey and Sussex, is 6 miles away and also provides a 50 minute rail link to London. Nearby villages provide a good selection of country pubs.
