Sunnyside Apartment & Spa is a completely self-contained 2 or 3 double bedroomed property adjacent to our own house. If you only pay for 4 persons, the third bedroom will not be available to use and will remain locked. The property was completely refurbished to a very high standard at the end of 2011.
UNIQUELY, it has the benefit of its own private sauna, steam room, jacuzzi/hot tub and massage chairs - for exclusive use during your stay.
It has a fully kitted kitchenette with a small oven capable of roasting a fairly large turkey, two-ring hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washing machine.
There is a dining/lounge area, plus a private, secluded patio garden with an outside dining area and is suitable for acquiring an all-over tan, if you wish. (we try to arrange most things, but still working on the weather!!)
Additionally, (if you book and pay for all three rooms) you will have use of a 50/60's American diner complete with Jukebox, pinball, neon lights, booth seats etc. Please note that the pinball and jukebox are old and temperamental, so cannot be guaranteed to work, although 90% of the time they do. This room also has a flat screen digital TV with Sky Movies, Sky Sports, ESPN etc
One of the additional benefits of this property is that we live next door, so are on-hand if you require any advice on the facilities or the area. We maintain and clean this property ourselves and take a great pride in its condition.

In the spa area there are two massage chairs to completely relax in between sessions in the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The sauna can accommodate six people comfortably, the steam room and jacuzzi four people at a time.
This is a non-smoking property, although there is a patio garden at the rear.
Special Requirements and Disabilities:
We have ticked the box for "Not suitable" for wheelchair users, as the property is situated on a hill, so has quite a few steps and a narrow entrance. Also, the jacuzzi is sunken into the ground and although there is a handrail, some people may find it difficult to get in and out. Similarly, we have ticked not under 5's as they would need constant supervision in the spa and kitchen areas.
One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor, the other two on the first floor.
Please ask if you have a specific requirement and we will try to help.
Janet is a Level One BSL signer and our daughter is a Level 3 BSL signer. In addition, as a benefit to deaf or hearing impaired visitors each bedroom has been fitted with an audible fire alarm as well as a visual (flashing) fire alarm and vibrating pad that can be put under the pillow. The spa area and the American Diner have also been fitted with visual fire alarms.
The London region
London really does not need any further information - it is London!!
East London, England
On the outskirts of London close to the Essex border, but convenient for motorway access to places further afield, but also convenient for travelling into The City of London and The West End.
We may be biased here, but we believe Chingford to be one of the nicest, safest areas of London. We have lived here for 25 years and our children were all born here and went to local schools, (always on foot). Although it is in London, it is bordered by Epping Forest, so has a more "country" atmosphere than most of suburban and inner London.
Chingford is spoilt for choice for restaurants of all types, within walking distance: 2 Chinese, 3 Indian, 2 Italian, Pizza, Thai, Tapas plus several cafes, six pub/restaurants and several wine bars. There is even a pub/restaurant just 50 yards away!!
Epping Forest is great for walking, cycling, horse riding and fishing. A few minutes walk will take you to Pole Hill, part of which was owned by Lawrence of Arabia in the 1920's. On a clear day you can say all the way to Central London including the London Eye, Canary Wharf etc. Further on is the Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge, originally built for Henry VIII. This is currently free entry and worth a visit.
Further afield (20 minutes drive) is the 2012 Olympic site and adjacent to that is the brand new Westfield Shopping Centre (the largest indoor shopping centre in Europe). Also, a 5 minute driveaway is the Olympic Canoe Slalom Centre. Outside of the Olympic period, the centre can be used by the public for White Water Rafting. This is situated in Waltham Abbey, itself a historic town that is worth exploring.

"Our family of 5 enjoyed this roomy, very clean apartment and spa!"
My husband was working in Afghanistan, I flew from the states with our 3 kids to meet him for 2 weeks. Sunnyside Apt & Spa was a very nice and relaxing. We enjoyed the nearby forest and traveled to London 5 times. The spa was very nice, steam room, sauna & hot tub. The owners were great and always available to answer questions about anything in apartment or sight seeing. The kids loved having their own space and used the 50's diner everyday. Highly recommend!!!

"Practical Luxury in Northeast London"
We stayed for a week at Sunnyside and would definitely love to return. After our overnight flight from the US landing at our own personal spa was perfect. The pictures do not do the sauna, steam room and whirlpool justice (not to mention the message chairs). It was such a luxury to unwind after the flight as well as before or after a day visiting London. Touristy London is a commute away from the quiet and friendly neighborhood town of Chingford. Everyone there was welcoming and helpful and there are ample choices for groceries, coffee shops, and eateries . With our party fo four sometimes we choose to hire a car to a specific location in the city of London proper and it was affordable and arrived quickly. It is a 50 minute drive down to say Soho or the museum district. Our other option was to procure a one day Travel Card (half price after 9:30). This allowed us to take a bus from a block away or the Train from Chingford Station or any combination of train bus and tube. It was a great way to see the outlying neighborhoods of the city and we always felt safe traveling. Use the website http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ to get details for any trip.
Bottom line, the savings from being a little ways from the center of London covered any extra transportation cost and made the personal spa and quiet friendly neighborhood an unbelievable bonus. Couldn't have done much better!
The apartment has everything needed and is definitely as advertised. Stan and Janet are expert and congenial hosts and are right next door should you need just some information or if there was any problem, which there was not for the entire week we were there! The apartment has a small efficient well equipped kitchen but there are also a number of restaurants in Chingford and they are not tourist traps because there are no tourists there, just locals of all ages. We ate at the local Thai restaurant which I thought was very good and reasonably priced. Most evenings we stayed in London late and caught a direct train to Chingford from Liverpool Street or called a car to deliver us to our door. Nothing bad to say about these accommodations.
Thanks again Stan and Janet and I hope to see you again.

"Great accommodation with exceptional amenities in a convenient location for North and Central London"
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this unique property - it lived up to and even exceeded our expectations and the website very accurately portrays the bedrooms and other amenities available. Chingford itself is a nice town with lots of good pubs and restaurants, plus Epping Forest is very close by with some great walks. Chingford station with good service to central London is about a 10 minute walk away. Stan and Jan are friendly and welcoming but don't intrude unless you need their help with something. We will definitely be staying here again next time we visit family and friends in London!

"Friendly very welcoming host and superb house and relax ambience"
After our earlier correspondences that we are a group of 6 and have quite big size baggages as we had travelled to Switzerland and Holland, the hosts Stan and Janet agreed to pick us up from the train station which were a great help as otherwise it would be such a hassle! The house was very well furnished, to the small details and unique in one sense that gave you a relax holiday ambience. I personally spent many reading and just relaxing hours in the garden.
Location convenient walking to the station and facilities of restraunt and supermarket. Vast area of good cycling routes and walking.
Both the hosts were very friendly and warm and helpful as well and no hesitation in recommending the place

"First Class Accommodation and amazing hosts"
We had booked Eden Garden for the week of our wedding for us and our family. Upon arriving we were greeted with a congratulations card (in English and Lithuanian - my wife is Lithuanian) and a bottle of champagne. The house was amazing with a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna all of which were excellent. The bedrooms are spacious and in excellent condition and there is a lovely garden. Overall we would rate our stay here as first class - one of the best places we have stayed and we will certainly be returning for our anniversary. Stan and Jan were great and extremely helpful. One room of note is the dining room styled as an American diner with a fully functioning jukebox and pinball machine. We would happily recommend this house to anyone - extremely relaxing atmosphere with everything you need at your fingertips.
Thanks Stan and Jan, you really made our stay one we will never forget.
Many thanks J&LS - your (new) family were great guests and it was a pleasure having you here for your special occasion. Hopefully we will see you again.
Just one small observation that we ought to point out to future visitors: the "American Diner" is only available for guests to use that book and pay for all three double rooms. (see property description).

"Wonderful Vacation - Thanks"
We all had a great time and the accommodation had just about everything we needed and was in a good location to get just about anywhere. Stan and Janet were very firendly and were always available if needed. My daughter and boyfriend enjoyed the hot tub and sauna and the local pubs and restaurants most evenings. I would recommend the forest walk down to the golf course, great views over London. We plan to return in the fall and would recommend this to anyone - so much better than a hotel.
