Great Harwoods Farm Sussex Retreat is a just completed barn conversion situated on a country estate in the High Weald area of outstanding natural beauty. Located in beautiful countryside it is still only about one mile from the centre of East Grinstead town. The conversion was carried out with the view of making the property carbon neutral. It uses a ground source heat pump system to heat it and solar panels to provide most of the electricity. The front door leads into a luxury fitted kitchen which also includes a washing machine. Beyond the kitchen is a large Open Plan lounge and dining area. Nearly the whole south wall is glass which can be fully opened up to enjoy the spectacular view from a beautiful sun drenched patio. On the right side of the property is two double bedrooms and a shower room. Having only just been completed, the whole property is brand new and modern but retains some of its best original barn features. The High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is criss crossed by walking and cycling trails. To the south of the property is Weir Wood Reservoir with its active sailing club and fishing concession. The Bluebell Railway steam train line now extends into East Grinstead station and runs regularly to Sheffield Park. East Grinstead has all the facilities you would expect from a large town with an excellent selection of shops, good sports facilities, a theatre and numerous public houses selling Harvey's Ales, probably the best real ale in the world! The centre of the town dates from 1100 AD and still retains many of the original buildings from that era including the magnificent St. Swithun's church

"Secluded haven in Sussex countryside"

We stayed for over a month and could not have been happier. Fantastic but unobtrusive hosts, a wonderful barn conversion, large garden in which the boys played endlessly, at the foot of which you have… More

"Beautifully presented chalet"

This recently completed barn conversion is every bit as stunning as the pictures and description details and then some. The owners have loving created a stunning private retreat that I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone. The swimming pool was lovely and warm and also good for a back massage! The quality within the conversion was top class, Karndean and tiled flooring throughout, luxurious décor and the beds were amazing - even the sofa bed! The shower and bathroom are beautifully presented, easy to use and there is plenty of hot water from the fantastic ground source heat pump. We were very well looked after by Ailsa, David and the family who made us feel so welcome from the minute we arrived until we departed. East Grinstead is a very nice town and is situated perfectly between London (1 hour on the train direct to Victoria) or 40 mins to the South Coast. All in all a great choice - many thanks from us all.
