Compass Corner Shepherds Hut
from £95 /night help
Shepherds Hut | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Compass Corner Shepherds Hut is nestled in the Sussex countryside at Yew Tree Barn in Worth near Turners Hill. The hut itself is a traditional, converted by design shepherding hut which sleeps two comfortably, located on an idyllic piece of pastureland. We are bordered by Compasses Wood and close to Hundred Acres Wood with a beautiful vista which is frequented by a variety of British wildlife and beautiful sunrises. An ideal location to visit local attractions and places of interest nearby or explore the surrounding woodland.
The shepherds hut also overlooks the restored Yew Tree Barn, originally built in 1827 as a hay barn and cattle hovel. Now lovingly restored with an oak frame and far more comfortable than it's intended use by your hosts Mark and Sue who have resided here since 2005.
We are offering a Bed and Breakfast break in the Sussex countryside for two. The hut itself is fully insulated with underfloor heating and antique stove. Furnished with a comfy double bed and double doors that open out onto wooden decking. A separate kitchen area is attached to the hut and a purpose built shower room and toilet is also provided.
Former professional chef and host Sue will be able to provide a breakfast hamper inclusively. Additionally cakes, sandwiches or biscuits can be made to order and a BBQ is also provided should you wish to brave the British summertime weather lottery. If you are celebrating a special event or anniversary Sue will be more than happy to bake that special cake.

The West Sussex region
Situated in Worth, West Sussex, once referenced under Surrey in the Domesday book as Orðe. Originally a Saxon forest settlement and still served by an early Anglo-Saxon church, St Nicholas' built around 950AD and gifted by William the Conqueror to his son-in-law. Close by is the Benedictine Monastry and School, Worth Abbey, which at one time was known as Paddockhurst as far back as the 1690's and initially part of Wakehurst. At one point we were served by a railway line called the "Three Bridges to Tunbridge Wells Central Line" but the line was closed in 1967 by Dr Beeching. The old line trackbed has been reclaimed and is now a popular walking footpath and bridleway linking Crawley and East Grinstead. in 2013 the Bluebell Railway was reopened and visitors now flock to the area to travel on the steam powered locomotives. Nearby are the rolling chalk hills of the North and South Downs beyond which lies the Sussex Weald, steeped in hundreds of years of history and here we are nestled away in Compasses Wood, Worth.
