Welcome to East Grinstead - the capital of the historic High Weald. Our ancient market town with its wealth of architectural heritage is surrounded by some of the finest countryside in the whole of the South East of England. This is where the River Medway rises and the vast swathes of Ashdown Forest (Home to Winnie The Pooh!) begin. Here you can ride the steam trains of the famous Bluebell Railway, drift among the treasures of the National Trust's Standen or London is just a train ride away: embarking from London Bridge and London Victoria BRS.
If it's a farm break you are after, or just a quiet weekend, the farm has plenty to offer. Surrounded by footpaths ideal for country strolls, there is wildlife in abundance, with just a short walk (two fields) from the beautiful Weir Wood Reservoir, and the National Trust's Standen House (three fields). You can go fishing on our large ponds for carp and rudd (limited tackle available so please bring your own). Our farm currently has one horse, two sheep, varying amounts of chickens, four hens and one cockerel last time I checked! Plus two and a half dogs (one is tiny), four cats and lots of cows. Oh and Albert the Bull of course! He is large but lovely. Feel free to join in and give us a hand or simply enjoy watching a working farm work!
The East Grinstead area
East Grinstead has something for everyone. Friendly restaurants, pubs, bars and coffee shops are waiting to bid you welcome. The high street still has many houses with timber frames dating back to the 14th century.
In addition the Ashdown Forest, Gatwick, Crawley and Three Bridges are approximately ten minutes away in the car with nine golf courses within a 20 minute radius, plus at least three tennis clubs around East Grinstead itself.

I decided to book a yurt last minute to escape the stresses of business. My partner and I stayed for 2 nights in a 6 person yurt. I was a little worried about the weather but with a log burner in situe didnt think it would be an issue. We found Busses Farm at the very end of a secluded and private country lane. We were greeted by several very friendly dogs and the manager Aafke who showed to a clean and traditional shower block complete with guest fridge and heated showers and then to our private yurt, kitchen / bbq area and field. The yurt was lovely and cosy, we were able to truly relax and loved the location and all the animals. The cattle herd were very amusing and kept us in fits of laughter as they moooed away. The owners have created an amazing mix of rustic charm with chic luxury at a location in the middle of nowehere but also only 2 miles from the centre of town. Thoroughly enjoyed it and have recommended to several friends and colleagues already. Prices are ex VAT so watch that but its great value, peanuts if there are 6 of you... Price included wood for burner and outside fire, all cleaning items and utensils etc and electricity in the yurt, all we had to take was food and drink. |

I booked this for me and 2 friends for a short break. We loved our stay here, it was a bit difficult to find and I had sat nav! Everyone was really friendly and we were in our own little secluded woodland with only cows to look at, it was great :) We had our own fire pit and an outside area under cover with a table and electric plug in. There is a nice walk for the Yurt down to the reservior which was not too far away. I would definatley recomend this place to everyone I know and its only an hour away from Brighton where we had a day out. |
