Trem y Foel is a two bedroom, one double, one twin, non-smoking holiday cottage located in peaceful, idyllic surroundings in the north corner of Snowdonia National Park.

The cottage has front and back gardens, front yard (room for two cars), patio with barbeque, utility (drying) shed. It is well appointed and has been furnished in a practical, homey manner.

Stone steps (the various stairs indicate the let may not be suitable for individuals with mobility problems) lead to the front door. The stairs to the bedrooms are in the entrance hall. In the lounge is a modern 26" tv with a DVD player (view your pics and videos - vga/hdmi connection provided). The utility room has a toilet, basin and washing machine. The dining room can seat up to 6 and has a 17" flat screen TV with integrated DVD. The kitchen has twin electric oven, 4 ring gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer. Composting bin in the garden for waste.

The bathroom comprises toilet, basin and combined bath/electric shower. Note bath towels are not supplied. The hot water for the bath and the rest of the cottage (and the central heating) runs off the new (Nov '11) Baxi gas boiler. The central heating is supplemented by gas fires in the lounge and dining room.

Ideal for couples, small families or a small group of friends. Dogs welcome (small surcharge). Additional cot for infant.

The front yard has gated parking for two cars.

Because of the hilly surroundings, mobile pone coverage at the cottage is weak, but stronger as you stroll to Old Mill Rd. and the village.

We give a 10% discount for a 2 week booking; the minimum stay is 3 nights, and for a short stay (3-5 nights) the charge is pro rata plus £35.

The Conwy County region

North Wales is one of the most scenic areas of the United Kingdom and has the countries' largest national park - the Snowdonia National Park (the cottage is in fact located in the park). The region is also replete with history, natural history and archeology; the Castles built by Edward I in the 13th century - a World heritage Site - principal amongst them.

More recent attractions include nineteenth century stately homes and gardens, Zoos, Victorian tourist attractions such as the Great Orme (tram, marine drive..), industrial archeology specifically the slate industry.

More historic attractions include ancient churches and priories from the medeival period, roman remains, bronze and stone age hillforts and cromlechs (and a unique copper mine on the Great Orme).

In the mountains Snowdon is the prime attraction as the highest point outside of Scotland, is and was which is why there is a cog railway up it, another Victorian legacy. Snowdonia is an outdoor mecca that has always attracted walkers, climbers, hillgoers and sightseerers. The famous Everest expedition of 1953 based here to train.

And for the more beach and coast minded, the coastline is also justly renowned, particularly Anglesey and the Llyn peninsula, cliffs replete with seabirds, innumerable bays and beaches many popular and touristy with excellent facilities, others quiet, remote and secluded.

Although the property is so easily accessible from a major road, its character and ambiance is secluded amongst trees, quiet and rural. The location is a natural suntrap in summer, and the area is naturally sheltered from the prevailing westerlies and incoming rain fronts, being more on the lee side of the Snowdonia hills.

The hills come right to the coast in this area, the local villages of Penmaenmawr and Dwygyfylchi tucking in to a small glacial valley. Paths climb up the hill sides and from the splendid viewpoints you can look down on this valley, the villages, the golf course and the general location of the cottage, as well as over to Anglesey and the Great Orme and out over the sea.

The nearest beach is just 15 mins walk away. The nearest beach with facilities is 3miles/5km at Penmaenmawr. The historic town of Conwy wth its Edwardian castle and walls, historic town house, shops pubs and quayside is just 10 minutes by road.

Locally there is a post office and general stores, and a Chinese take-away/chippie. Shops in Penmaenmawr (2mi/3km) include a small supermarket, a good bakery, and a pharmacy. An excellent pub is just 10 mins walk from the cottage.
