Quarry Square Cottage is a recently refurbished 2 bedroom, stone built, two storey Victorian cottage, in a quiet village location. It offers a cosy and comfortable get away for families, couples or someone working away from home on business. This fully furnished cottage has everything you will need, including a wood burning stove and gas central heating to create a warm and homely atmosphere.

Quarry Square Cottage has an enclosed garden with a small lawn and a patio area with garden furniture ideal to relax in, have a meal in and enjoy the peace and quiet. There is one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, with high quality, clean bed linen and comfortable mattresses to aid a good night's rest after your busy days exploring the area.

In the village, all within easy walking distance, there is a well-stocked local convenience store to cater for all your needs, as well as two lovely friendly pubs, which serve food. We are hoping you can also grab some authentic Greek breads and cakes from the a bakery 2 minutes walking distance from the Cottage, which is opening soon.

There is ample parking available outside the cottage. Heating, fuel, power, bath towels, kitchen towels and bed linen are available for use during your stay.

Quarry Square Cottage is available for one night, weekend breaks and on a weekly basis.

From Quarry Square Cottage you can explore all the North East has to offer Durham, Northumberland, Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland.

On the door step you can explore the delights of Beamish Open Air Museum, Beamish is a world famous museum telling the story of the people of North East England during the Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian periods. It is a fascinating place and fun for all ages (4 miles drive).

Tanfield Steam railway, the world's oldest railway (2 miles)

Ideal location for visit to Durham international cricket ground (9 miles )

Durham city with its Cathedral and Castle is a World Heritage site and only 12 miles away.

The Durham Dales offers moor, hills, valleys and meandering rivers ideal for walkers.

You can also venture into Northumberland from the cottage to explore Hadrian's wall and the beautiful Lindisfarne island.

The cottage is a great base to visit Newcastle/ Gateshead (10 miles), Sunderland (18 miles) and the Metro Centre ( 6 miles) is close for retail therapy, bars, restaurants, 3D cinema and amusements.

The cottage has good access to Derwent walk for walking and cycling and there is always the Coast to Coast cycle way nearby and Hamsterley Forest is a magnet for mountain bikers, with its specially designed skills loop, downhill mountain bike courses, and offers a thrill a minute for single track riders. And for the peace and tranquillity of the water, head to one of Durham's many reservoirs or riverside routes.
