Both a National Park and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the region’s stunning scenery includes rolling hay meadows, striking limestone formations, grand heather-laden moors and picture-postcard perfect villages. A paradise for walkers, the Yorkshire Dales attract enthusiasts from far and wide as the long distance Pennine Way and Coast-to-Coast routes pass through the area. Durham / Lanchester area
Set in the beautiful countryside of County Durham is the village of Lanchester, approximately eight miles to the west of Durham itself. Taking its name from the Roman fort of Longovicium, the site of the current village has been home to a settlement for centuries. Today, the connection with the Romans attracts historians and archaeologists, as does the nearby 'Roman Dere Street'.
Now a thriving and substantial village, Lanchester offers a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants, whilst the surrounding countryside provides exceptional walking trails including the Lanchester Valley Walk which runs the course of a disused railway line from Consett to Durham. Durham City itself is just eight miles away whilst Newcastle is just 20 miles, offering visitors a thriving metropolis full of culture, superb shopping facilities, live music and theatre.

'Last Minute Breaks (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the 'LOW', 'MID', 'HIGH', 'PEAK', 'XMAS' and 'NEW YEAR' periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
