This 244m2 3rd floor spacious furnished penthouse apartment on the coast with panoramic sea views which is situated at the La Mer complex, Illovo Beach in Kingsburgh just 25 minutes drive from Durban's International Airport on KwaZulu-Natal's South Coast.

The apartment includes two sea facing bedrooms each with a double bed and en suite bath/shower/toilet. These bedrooms lead out onto the apartment's own balcony. A third bedroom has two single beds with en-suite shower/toilet. A spacious living room and dining area leads onto the wide covered balcony with outdoor furniture, including a CADAC gas BBQ, through folding sliding doors. The unit is equipped with TV, DStv (bring own smart card), VCR/DVD.

There is a fully equipped open plan kitchen and the adjoining scullery has a dish washer, tumble dryer and washing machine. A fourth bedroom leads off behind the kitchen and has one single bed and en suite shower/toilet. This bedroom also has a separate outside entrance. One other single bed is situated in the study off the living room area. Linen, towels and pool/beach towels supplied. The apartment can sleep 8 persons and there are 3 undercover parking bays for vehicles.

It is situated in a secure complex which also boasts a communal swimming pool and club house area. The walk onto the beach via a locked access gate from the complex should take you under 5 minutes.

One of the best shark dives in the world
The South Coast is a scuba divers paradise, Aliwal Shoal being most popular with as many as 40 000 dives taking place annually. Protea Banks further south is considered to be one of the best shark dives in the world.

The Sardine Run
The coast also offers one of the finest angling areas worldwide. Each year shoals of pilchards migrate from the Cape. Nearing KwaZulu Natal, they begin to hug the coastline, the sea currents bring them ever closer to shore. Hot on their tails are large numbers of predatory big-game fish, providing marvellous opportunities for anglers. This event is what's known as the Sardine Run.

Top rated golf courses
The larger towns on the South Coast are Margate and Port Shepstone. Within one hour leisurely drive from Margate there are no less than nine excellent 18-hole golf courses, two of which are rated in South Africa's top 12.

The area includes numerous nature reserves, arts and crafts shops, trails as well as a crocodile farm.

Visitors to the South Coast will not be short of things to see and do.

Durban / Illovo Beach area

Illovo Beach is a small holiday resort town tucked away on the south coast of ZwaZulu Natal, about thirty kilometers to the south of the province’s main city, Durban. Illovo beach falls under the municipal area of Kingsburgh, and it is here that the visitor will find amenities like shopping centres, medical facilities and so on. Illovo Beach gets its name from the Lovu River, at the mouth of which it stands.

Illovo is a village that has many residential properties and plenty of accommodation, including a caravan park. There are good beaches and the resort is ideally placed for the many attractions of KwaZulu Natal. For those wishing to see more of the night life of the big city, Durban is only a half hour’s drive away on the N2 highway. There is some excellent fishing to be had from on the Illovo Beach front, which is a very popular sun-bathing beach.
