Guestbook
You little house was perfect for us, the natural surrounding was tranquil and soothing. - Maung Zarni
Thanks for a lovely stay in your home in Villeseque. Its really charming, and we enjoyed the open kitchen / terrace immensely! Its very tastefully decorated and I love all the exposed beams and the bathroom and toilet!! The village itself is very pretty and a lovely example of Corbieres villages. I preferred it to Durban, having spent a week there, and wish it had been the other way round so we could have spent a week in Villeseque instead.
During our stay in the area, I would say our highlights were Peyperteuse, its quite amazing, with fantastic views and a real sense of the history of Cathar country. I would advise visitors to wear sensible footwear not flipflops like me! Lagrasse was well worth a visit, the abbey is lovely and the village itself is a treat - incredibly well preserved and utterly lacking in tourist gift stores.. Its a small p[lace so easy to meander around. We also took a shine to the north end beach at Leucate, where you can look out from the cliffs or bask in the sunshine watching the para gliders. The little town itself is nice, with a quite a few restaurants to chose from. And just generally meandering around the hills on all those winding roads, you pass through allsorts of delightful villages! Thanks for your recommendations for the Chateau Bonnafous, we went there 2 nights running as the food was delicious. Very well priced to.. menus from 19 Euro to 36 Euro for 4-5 courses. Wines start at 14 Euro for a bottle.. the Chateau Haut Gleon was a delicious treat for 27 Euro on our last night! - Ren and James
Hi Terri
This was by far the most beautiful gite we've ever stayed in; the location is gorgeous, the attention to detail in the renovation is delightful and the owner exceptionally friendly and accomodating. It's situation means it is easy to get to loads of fantastic spots, such as Peyrepetuse and Carcassonne, and we found an amazing restaurant in Narbonne called 'L'entree Temps' on Rue l'ancient Courrier, just opposite the town hall.
The village is peaceful but friendly, and it proved a brilliant retreat that we'd love to return to.
Anna and Dino.
