The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region

Located in the heart of the herb scented Corbieres, Residence Belle Vue overlooks a range of beautiful hills that stretch north of the Spanish border and sweep inland from the Mediterranean. The area is blessed with a wonderful climate, enjoying over 300 days of sunshine annually the Languedoc has long hot summers and brief, mild winters. It is an area steeped in history recently immortalised by the books: Labyrinth and The De Vinci Code.
The historic village of Durban is sitauated in the middle of Cathar country, overlooked by an imposing castle it's a typical southern French affair with excellent amenities incluing a café restaurant, bar, supermarket, bank and florist. There is also a hairdresser, pharmacy, dentist and doctors.
The local cave cooperative may interest those who enjoy the odd glass of wine. Vineyards, monasteries and castles are scattered throughout the area whilst the fine sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are but a short drive away. Many fine restaurants are close to the village including the newly aclaimed three starred Michelin restaurant at Fontjoncourse (a 15 minute drive away).
The Durban Corbieres area
Within a 30 minute drive the thriving market towns of Narbonne and Lezignan Corbieres provide a wide range of shops and services, whilst the city of Perpignan close to the Spanish border offers a vibrant mix of influences – more Catalan than French in atmosphere. Swimming and wind-surfing are available in the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean at Cap Leucate , just 30 minutes away.
The snowy peaks of the Pyrenees rise dramatically in the south and a range of winter sports activities are available in ski resorts within easy striking reach of the cottage. Championship golf courses , floodlit tennis courts, horse-riding and sailing are all readily available. The corbiere hills are criss-crossed by lovely walks for every level, all with magnificent views to the foothills of the Pyrenees.

Guestbook for Residence Belle Vue
Hi Alex, we have just arrived back in Australia after a terrific time away. We wanted to let you know we very much enjoyed staying at your cottage in Durban, it was lovely and very well equipped, we enjoyed the village and the surrounding area , just loved the views of the village and hills from the house
Sally Sesnan
We are now back in England after a lovely holiday in Durban Corbieres!
I'd just like to say how much we enjoyed staying in your beautiful house! We thought the village was charming and wished we could have brought the views back with us - it was great to wake up and see the hills every
day!
We were certainly very sad to leave and hope to return one day!
Kind regards
Carole Griffiths and family.
We particularly enjoyed the good food on offer at several of the restaurants which you mentioned in the brochure. The 2 star Michelin was an experience not to be missed.
Lunch at the Abbey (Fontfroide) was also very good.
Being red wine fans, we were also surprised at the quality (and price) of the local Corbiere and Fitou wines.
Thanks again for allowing us to stay the extra night.
We hope to again visit Durban in the future.
Many thanks
Nigel and Maggie Walker
Just to say we had a great time.
The house and the surrounding area exceeded our expectations and we had a ball.
The view from your terrace will live long in the memory
Many Thanks
Mike and Family.
