Enquire nowThe Aquitaine / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne region
This region of SW France is renownd for its fine wines, foie gras and delicious prunes. It is also well known for its friendliness towards the british and for the many bastide towns built to defend against the invading french during the hundred years war.
These bastide towns still retain much of their ancient character so why not sit at one of the many cafe's around the square's to enjoy a coffee or beer and soak up the ambience of times gone bye.
The Aquitaine coast has beautiful, clean, sandy beaches and the resort of Arcachon has the largest sand dune in europe ( dune de pile ) and is well worth a visit.
The Duras / Sainte Colombe de Duras area
Le Camelot is a tiny hamlet situated amongst the vineyards, plum orchards and the rolling country side of South West France. Located midway between the bastide towns of Duras and Monsegur, it is a quiet and tranquil rural setting. Both Duras and Monsegur hold thriving weekly local produce markets, and during the summer months various festive events take place.
Bergerac, Arcachon, Bordeaux, Saint Emilion La Reole and Agen are all within easy driving distance. So whatever your interests, you will find it here.
For those seeking active pursuits they can canoe or fish on the rivers Dropt and Dordogne, sadle up at one of the local riding stables or local cycle rentals, or take a stroll along the country roads and enjoy the picturesque views. For those just wanting to relax, simply stay and lounge by the pool.

We stayed here for 2 weeks and had a really great time. Lot-et-Garonne is a lovely corner of France and the gite was presented to a really high standard. It was ideal for the 2 families we had in our party and the swimming pool area was excellent - we stayed at the gite for about 2 days out of every 3 lazing round the pool and had a great time teaching our young daughter to swim. The nearest big town is Begerac but there are loads of smaller charming towns closer such as Duras itself, Monsegur and Miramont-sur-Guyenne which are great to visit for lunch/dinner or to check out a day or night market. All the countryside in Lot-et-Garonne is stunning and in my opinion is one of the loveliest areas of France. Reg and Sue were really good hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them and they made a special effort for our daughter which we were very appreciative of. The gite itself is in a small hamlet on the side of a valley - really picturesque. Highly recommended - well worth a visit. Response: It's always very rewarding to know that our clients enjoyed their stay with us and that 'Le Camelot' promotes this lovely part of France in such a positive way. |

We've been visiting this part of France for over 10 years and this is the most beautifuly presented gite we have stayed in, we will be telling everyone how wonderful it is in the UK. We had a fantastic time, everything needed was provided, and Reg & Sue were great hosts, weather was nice & sunny and the pool was amazing. Le Camelot has been renovated to a beautifully high standard, everything well presented down to the smallest detail. Our rooms were extremely comfortable and exceeded all of our expectations. Duras is only a short drive away and will offer everything you need from shopping to a few drinks and a nice meal. Le Camelot provided us with such a peaceful and relaxing holiday we did not want to leave after our 2 weeks away from home. Thank you again Sue and Reg and hope to see you again soon. Paul & Julie Adams, York Response: We are very glad you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to receiving enquiries from your friends back in the U.K. |
