The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

Around the area there is a lot to see and do - from wine-tasting to prune production, ballooning to canoeing, and of course...eating. There are many good restaurants in the area ranging from 16 euros for a 5-course lunch (including wine) to more expensive "Gourmet" experiences. There are details on the notice board

Literally hundreds of vineyards are within an easy drive - including St Emilion and Monbazilac.

Nearby Atlantic beaches, approximately 90 minutes drive, are safe and sandy with activities for children and many superb seafood restaurants.

It is only a short walk into the village of Levignac with small supermarket, baker, butcher, chemist.

The famous château in Duras is only ten minutes by car and well worth a visit, as is the Parchment Museum - the only one of its kind in France.

The area is well known for its excellent climate, unspoilt countryside, good food and a wide variety of wines. There are tennis courts in the local village, canoeing is available nearby and there are a number of good golf courses nearby. The area also offers Chateaux and market towns dating back to the renaissance.

We booked Pont L'Agasse for the whole of September to accommodate our extended family from 4month old George to our 3 beloved Labradors. We have always rented gites of varying standards over the last 35 years and can honestly say that this one was probably the best ever. It had everything that everyone wanted from the large heated pool and games room for our sporty son-in-law, swings for our 2 year old grandaughter, a TV and DVD player at the end of our one wet day, a well equipped kitchen for Mum-in-law, comfortable bedrooms to loads of room in the garden to run the dogs. We all absolutely loved it and couldn't recommend it more highly.

"Fantastic Family House"

This house has everything you need. The kitchen is better stocked than ours at home, every appliance and tool you would ever need. We stayed as a family, grandparents, parents and two small children. The house was spotless, very well maintained and truly a family home. It had such a relaxing feel, big sofas and lots of room to spread out, and really comfortable beds. Plenty of toys for the children, including two small bikes which were a great hit, along with the garden swing. The pool was warm, even on those days when the weather was unkind and safe with good fencing and locked gate. There is amply garden furniture, all in very good condition, as with everything in the house. The garden is large and completely safe for children to play in being completely fenced with a very secure front gate. We would recommend this to friends; it is a fantastic family retreat. It gets 9/10, just missing the 10 due to it being slightly remote.

"Excellent Holiday Rental for a Family"

This property is an excellent place for a family, located within 2 acres of gardens and boasting a 10x5 metre heated pool which is fenced off for children.
We stayed for a week in June 2011 and would recommend the property whole heartedly.
It is very rustic and very large equipped to a very good standard, in fact the only item we couldn't find in the whole stay was lemon squeezer, not major.
The owner was very helpful with the booking and the place was very clean and well prepared.
We enjoyed the garden and pool. The games room was a bonus with table tennis, darts etc.
There was plenty of garden furniture and sun loungers together with a stone built barbecue. The kitchen was well equipped with two fridge freezers(one for the beer) and dining table and chairs for twelve, however we dined outside on the patio.
There was even a large Tv with all the english chanels which suited the girls.
We would love to go again in the future.

"Excellent property, pool, & location"

We booked Pont dAgasse for the swimming pool, and we weren't disappointed. We arrived at the end of August and the weather was perfect, blue skies. The location was quiet but the local villages and the green countryside kept the view interesting; and most of the time was spend lounging around the pool, just what we all needed. The 15 year old boys seemed perfectly content. Duras market allowed us to meet local wine growers and sample local wines. We enjoyed a cold bottle of fizz ('Option Brut') with friends most nights. If the opportunity arose both families' felt they would like to return sometime in the future.
