The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
Sunshine 300 days a year, summer mainly hot and dry, May to October temperatures rise over 30 centigrade, November to April 18/20 centigrade. Most popular months for golfing October to May.
Costa del Sol has lots on offer for you to explore from small fishing ports like Estepona to ancient moorish towns and villages, Ronda and Casares being very popular with visitors. The Rock of Gibraltar is only 30 minutes drive down the coast with wonderful views across to North Africa.
Nearby is the Selwo Safari/Adventure Park, where you can admire the beautiful gardens and enjoy a ride in a Safari lorry to watch giraffes, elephants and tigers.
Duquesa area
Estepona, an old fishing village, with 1km beach and well kept promenade. The fishing Port is packed with bars and restaurants, offering everything from paella to Chinese.
Puerto de la Duquesa, a small attractive port 5 minutes drive, has a good range of shops, restaurants and local amenities.
Casares, a mountain village, has streets of ancient white houses perched on the slopes. An impressive Moorish castle towers above with stunning views over olive groves and the Mediterranean.
The Rock of Gibraltar official tour takes about 90 minutes and includes all the major sights. You can ride to the top of Gibraltar on a cable car, the views are superb.
Ronda ancient Andalucian town with spectacular views over a giant ravine. Visit the excavated remains of the Arab Baths and one of Spain's oldest bullrings with its bullfighting museum.
Further afield Jerez, Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Antequera are all well worth making a days trip to.
Weekly markets held in Estepona and Ronda.
Within easy reach there are numerous golf courses including Sotogrande, San Roque and Valderramma . Within 5 minutes drive two new courses opened in 2006, these are the Dona Julia and the Finca Cortisen with the Jack Nicklaus Academy

The newly opened Finca Cortesin designed by Cabell B Robinson has a Jack Nicklaus Academy. Valderrama, Sotogrande, San Roque, and La Canada are all within 20 minutes drive.
