The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
The Costa del Sol is one of Spains most popular destination due to its wonderful climate (hot and sunny in the summer and mild in the winter),beautiful beaches and world class golf courses (30 courses along the Costa del Sol).
Exploring the area by car is great fun and very easy using the motorway and the new toll road. Marbella and Puerto Banus is only 30 mins by car and the spectacular rock of Gibraltar ( with an international airport) in the other direction is only 20 mins.
A short drive inland leads you to beautiful mountain villages like Casares ,Ronda, Benhavia and Mijas Peublo. These are centuries old hillside communities, where the views are spectacular and are probably the best places to enjoy authentic tapas.
Duquesa / Duquesa Village area
Duquesa village is in one of the prime locations of the costa del sol, just 15 km along the coast from Estepona Here you have the Selwo African game reserve, and a short drve away are the aqua parks of Mijas and the cable lift and marine park in Benalmadena. Just 1km away are the fishing villages of Sabinallis and El Castillo where you will find some of the most magnificent seafood.
Puerto de la Duquesa is a beautiful marina nestled between 2 blue flag beaches. .It is both family friendly and chic with its fantastic restaurants( French, Italian, Chinese ,Thai, Indian and of course Spanish with its fresh local fish), wine bars and boutique shops.
Other activities include horse riding, sailing diving fishing jetskiing and go karting
Seville and Granada are about 2 hours drive from Duquesa and you can also take a ferry from Algeciras to Morocco (1hr on the ferry).
How to get there
The main airport is Malaga which is approx 1hr away. Road access along the costa del Sol to Marbella and Duquesa is easy by the motorway (A7) or the new toll road (AP7).
