The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

Often frequented by the Spanish, a must visit would be Tarifa just 45 minutes drive from Duquesa on the Costa de La Luz coastline. Tarifa has some of the best beaches in Europe, which could rival the Caribbean, seriously.
Popular for its walled town, white sandy beaches and dunes, horse riding, kite surfing, wind surfing and its laid back bohemian atmosphere, you will truly see a wonderful part of Spain when you come here. Take a walk up the dunes to watch the sunset…magical.

Gibraltar sits on the entrance to the Mediterranean, hence it's strategic importance. A British colony since 1704, it is connected to Spain by a sandy isthmus to La Linea. With it's own international airport, red telephone boxes and the British "bobby", it has a character of its own.

While Gibraltar is part of the European Community, it is outside the Customs Union and so visitors can still enjoy duty free purchases. No visit to Gibraltar would be complete without a trip up the Rock to see the resident Barbary apes, the World War 2 siege tunnels, St Michael's cave and the Moorish castle.

Duquesa / Manilva area

Manilva, despite its prime location on the coast, remains a predominantly Spanish village, unspoilt by any sky scraper developments found further up the coast. It lays back from the main road, slightly more in the tranquil surrounds of the Sierra Bermeja hills, but still with excellent access to the road for easy reach to the area's shopping, entertainment and airport facilities.

Also of interest, close by there are some interesting Roman ruins: 2 aqueducts in excellent condition and a Roman bath. While being a sleepy white village, with a few bars and restaurants, it has some excellent property bargains to be found.

Estepona is a lovely Spanish town with a charming " Casco Antiguo" or "Old Town", beautiful long beaches and a busy, working, fishing marina. The Old Town is a maze of cobbled Spanish alleys, with some excellent tapas bars and restaurants. Estepona's marina is situated at the end of the promenade. It's a lovely place to enjoy a stroll, watch the boats and enjoy some food in one of the many restaurants and bars. You can also watch the many fisher boats coming in and out of the port, and the ensuing fish auction that takes place once the fish is unloaded.

Despite the fact that Duquesa is only 30 minutes away from Gibraltar airport and 50 minutes away from Malaga airport, in Duquesa you feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of package holiday resort life. As well as the busy port area, which has a lovely atmosphere and its many bars and restaurants, the port is sandwiched by 2 blue flag beaches.

The port is very cosmopolitan, which is reflected by the great variety of cuisine offered around the marina. Whether you want to relax with some tapas, have a Chinese or fancy a pizza, you'll find what you want in one of the many restaurants.

La Duquesa Golf and Country Club is a championship 18 hole golf course nearby for those that enjoy a round or two of golf.

How to get there

Gibraltar airport is 35km away (about 25 minutes) and Malaga airport is 95km away (about 1h20).

Airport pick ups can be arranged by our property management company: From Malaga to Duquesa, one way, 95 euros (taxis are approximately 120 euros) and from Gibraltar to Duquesa, one way, 35 euros.
