BookThe Costa del Sol region
The Costa Del Sol still remains to be the best loved holiday destination in Spain. Renowned for its variety of resorts and its all year round sunshine, whenever you decide to visit you can be guaranteed to have a fantastic time.
Stretching along the coast of the Mediterranean from the area of Gibraltar to Malaga, the seaside resorts of the Costa del Sol with their long clean unspoilt but uncrowded beaches play host to the tourist from all over Europe and beyond.
The Duquesa area
The Southern coast’s best kept secret, Puerto de la Duquesa lies west of Marbella about an hour from Malaga airport and 25 minutes from Gibraltar airport. An oasis of peace, in an area that has retained a distinct Andalucian charm and character, Duquesa offers serenity and relaxation for a holiday like no other on the Southern coast of Spain.
The perfect place for a morning croissant and coffee, overlooking the variety of boats that jostle in the marina, the stunning port of Duquesa provides the ideal location for all types of water sports and boating activities. The attractive promenade around the marina is home to a tempting selection of family restaurants, bars and cafés. Options for eating include French, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai and of course, Spanish with its fresh local fish.
Within a few minutes drive are top class golf courses, such as Valderrama, Sotogrande, San Roque, Finca Cortesin and many others. Other local activities include water park for the children, wild life park, riding, sailing, polo, diving, walking, culture and history.
Lying only 1km from Duquesa along the main A7, Sabinillas is the nearest town with a street market every Friday and a extensive market every Sunday morning - just the thing for those looking for a bargain. It has retained its own character which includes an inviting seafront promenade with flourishing pavement cafes and bars. While the town itself has the atmosphere and pace of life for those who want a touch of the real Spain, it also has a reputation for superb seafood bars and restaurants and a superb sandy beach that stretches the entire length of the town.
Some of the other local attractions include :
Gibraltar (25 minutes west) with its famous Rock and Barbary Apes
Tarifa (45 minutes west) along a coastal drive offering the most spectacular views of the Straits of Gibraltar and Africa is a famous windsurfing location and has extensive golden beaches. Ronda (45 minutes inland) is a well known historical city with spectacular views over a deep gorge and many beautiful buildings and monuments.
Casares (10 minutes inland) with its medieval monastery, is a beautiful Andalusian hilltop village.
Mijas (15 minutes inland) is steeped in history dating back to Roman times, with ancient walls, picturesque little squares and winding lanes, lined with restaurants and arts and crafts artisan shops, it has a truly charming atmosphere.
Estepona (15 minutes east) is another beautiful coastal town with an equestrian centre and riding school.
Puerto Banus (25 minutes east) is a haven for designer shopping, and has a marina which houses prestige yachts such as those owned by the Saudi royal family. You can choose to dine out at some of the most exclusive restaurants in this part of Spain or alternatively just take a drink at one of the many quayside bars and watch the Ferraris, Maseratis and Bentleys go by.

I have just got back from a week at this property in Duquesa Golf, the house is perfectly located for the port (marina), restaurants, golf. Fully equipped including Sky TV there are 4 bedrooms... more |

We really enjoyed our vacation here, the house is very nicely furnished with everything you need for your holiday, there is a nice pool just out the back gate, but with it being November, we didnt use it, though the grounds are kept imaculate, the shops/restaurants are a 25 minute walk down the hill into the harbour, but its a nice walk. My husband has a bad back, but it was no problem walking home either. We did have a car while there and while it was handy, it wasnt a necessity. |

I stayed here with my fiancee, two grandparents and a 4month old baby, the house has plenty of space and the closeness of the terrace to the pool almost makes it seem like it is your own! People in the complex were very friendly and it is well located (nicely tucked away yet close enough to everything you need), I would happily stay again and also recommend it to anybody who is looking to get away |
