Guadalupe Hills is sited on a quite road of private dwellings in a very nice, peaceful residential area. The development has shared landscaped gardens and two shared unheated outside swimming pools with sea and mountain views towards the coast from one of the pools.
The lovely marina of Puerto De La Duquesa is just a short drive away, as is the town of Estepona, with its brand new promenade, seafront bars, cafes, shops and excellent beaches. At night have a meal in one of the many and varied restaurants around Puerto De La Duquesa overlooking the water - English, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Thai, American and Mexican, they are all here in Puerto De La Duquesa and, in our experience, all offer excellent cuisine at affordable prices. There are also plenty of options for those wanting to sit and sip coffee and watch the world go by during the day. We have some suggestions to offer with our joining instructions.
Many of the restaurants are all open all day and stay open until late at night. Across the road from the marina is the Duquesa Golf and Country Club which boasts superb facilities and a top class 18 hole course, overlooking the Mediterranean. More of Europe's finest golf courses are within a thirty minute drive, including: Los Arqueros, La Quinta, Los Flamingos, MonteMayor, Atalaya Park, Estepona, San Roque, Almenara, Sotogrande, Valderrama and Alcaidesa - this is a golfer's paradise.
There are so many fine attractions in this beautiful part of Andalucia- including Gibraltar with its duty free shopping and the world famous Barbary Apes and the famous White Towns. For those wanting a little retail therapy there is also La Canada on the outskirts of Marbella - full of well known retail names and plenty of options for a snack or lunch when you need to recharge your batteries mid-shop! Selwo Wildlife Park, Tivoli world zoos and water parks are all within easy reach too.

BookThe Costa del Sol region
The Costa del Sol stretches along just over 150 kilometres of Málaga province and is one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations. The area's mild climate is one of the main attractions that makes it possible to enjoy the beaches and a wide variety of outdoor activities year round.
Road access to Marbella, Malaga, Jerez, Cadiz and Seville and all along the Costa del Sol is easy by the motorway or new Toll Road. Gibraltar is the nearest international airport at just 30 minutes away and Malaga is 70 minutes.
Sotogrande is roughly 5,000 acres in size and as well as the amazing Santa Maria Polo club, there are four golf courses to choose from; Valderrama (host to Volvo Masters and the Ryder Cup), Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande (Founded in 1964, designed by Robert Trent Jones), La Cañada and Almenara, to say nothing of the further vast choice of smaller courses along the coast.
The Duquesa / Hacienda Guadalupe area
The Southern coast’s best kept secret, Duquesa lies west of Marbella just over an hour from Malaga airport and 30 minutes from Gibraltar airport. An oasis of peace, in an area that has retained a distinct Andalucian charm and character, Duquesa offers serenity and relaxation for a holiday like no other on the Southern coast of Spain. Although much quieter and more family orientated than the nearby harbours of Puerto Banus and Sotogrande there is still ample night-life and local attractions.
The beautiful Puerto De La Duquesa offers full marina services for boating enthusiasts as well as a myriad of attractions for those not wishing to take to the water. The attractive promenades encircling the port offer a variety of restaurants, intimate bars and cafés in which to while away the days. The vast choice of eating and drinking options include French, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai and, of course, Spanish with its fresh, local fish. Numerous services and grocers are also on hand.
Whether it's miles of pristine beaches (many earning the European Blue Flag for cleanliness) or rugged mountains with their wildlife, the La Duquesa area offers every type of terrain. Rising virtually from the beaches, the mountains hide their medieval towns like little jewels ¬ the famed White Towns. Every type of nature recreation is at hand including winter and spring skiing only two hours away in Granada.
Nearby Estepona is a large coastal town just over an hour from Malaga airport and 30 minutes from Gibraltar airport. It is well known for having kept its Spanish charm and character and is well worth visiting.

Had a great time at the apartment, we did have a minor problem with the air con but the guys at the estate company sorted it out the very next morning. The apartment is beautiful in terms of decor and layout. Four of us stayed here really comfortably. We had a week here and it was very peaceful, especially around the smaller of the two pools which we basically had to our selves for the entire week. You definitely need a car but everything is within 5 mins drive, beach, supermarkets, bars, restaurants. The Duquesa marina is a very nice place for an evening meal out with a good selection of restaurants and bars. One good restaurant we found was a beach bar just on the beach next to the castle, excellent food with a view of the med thrown in. Would definitely recommend the apartment and area! |

The flat as well as the whole block of flats was very clean and tidy, and well maintained. Air conditioning works well. The pool was very clean offering plenty of space. There were a few chairs as well as umbrellas together with a shower for the pool. The property is on a hill, which takes about 10 minutes to walk/climb. The view from the top while walking is nice. The agents were very helpful and friendly. It as a very nice place, I would definitely go there again... |

On arrival at the apartment we were all taken aback by how well fitted everything seemed. Fantastic quality furnishings and very luxurious feel to the apartment. The location was surprisingly quiet and very scenic. Just a brief walk down the road and the view to the sea really took our collective breath away. We chose not to hire a vehicle for the holiday and did not mind the walks to the local amenities, although if you have children or are unable to walk longer distances over changing inclines I would suggest a vehicle. Walking to the beach was very relaxing, plenty of breathtaking views along the way and it only took around 10 minutes to reach the beach and settle in on a lounger! The apartment had everything we could have asked for, plenty of kitchen utensils for home cooking, should you choose. Enough space and local information to shake a stick at too! Around the port there were plenty of restaurants/cafés to choose from with all staff able to speak good English & even better Spanish (obviously!) Everything about the apartment and holiday was perfect, I would definitely use again for a beautifully relaxing holiday with just enough to keep someone occupied for a week (and then some). If you're looking for a great, comfortable apartment (complete with a lovely "plunge" pool) and peace and quiet, look no further than the lovely La Duquesa. Response: Thank you - we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. |
