The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
Close to Estepona, and only 20 minutes from Marbella and the trendy Puerto Banus,the region is quoted as being 'Spains best kept secret' and has the benefit of many Blue flag (safe) beaches. There is so much to do along the coast, too many things to mention. For the children there are water parks, an open air zoo and go- karting.
If it is a winter holiday that you want then it is possible to get to Sierra Nevada or Granada, for skiing within 2 hours! Gibraltar is only half an hour away too, and if you are feeling really adventurous you could even go on a day trip to North Africa. Return the same day and enjoy the sunshine of about 20 degrees on the coast!
Duquesa / Golf and Gardens Complex area
The marina itself has over 50 resaurants and bars to choose from, from Mexican to Irish!. Supermarkets are within walking distance. The Golf course is designed by Robert Trent Jones and is the most reasonable in the Costa del Sol. (More information can be found about Duquesa on the Internet by using Google or Yahoo.)
Manilva is a little Spanish town at the back of Duquesa and produces local wines. The town of Casares is 5 minutes away and not to be missed. Visit Gibraltar for the day (20 minutes by car) and enjoy duty free shopping, not to mention the tourist attraction of the monkeys! For Sabinillas is the local Spanish town and is within walking distance. It has local festivals and a weekly market.there is a church in Sabinillas and the local bus station.El Castillo is a five minute walk away and has some excellent Spanish restaurants specialising in seafood. If you prefer to 'pose around' Puerto Banus, with its luxurious yachts and boats, is a must and only 20 minutes way. The port of Sotogrande is situated only ten minutes from Duquesa and boasts the best golf courses on the coast.
How to get there
Fly to Malaga airport ( 55 min from Duquesa)with a cheap Easyjet , Jet2.com , bmibaby, or Monarch flight. Alternatively you can fly to Gibraltar( 35 min from Duquesa). You can also fly with Ryannair from Jerez from as little as £9 each way! Or why not fly to Granada- 3 hrs drive but very cheap! Cheap car hire available from holidayautos.com
