The 'La Borboleta' urbanisation has a fantastic 300m2 swimming pool and separate children's pool in the centre of the gardens. This is a perfect spot to spend the day relaxing, enjoying the sea views and watching sailing boats and water sports enthusiasts pass along the Mediterranean sea. The gardens have direct access to the beach. Although this is a quieter area of the beach a 2 minute stroll will take you to the nearest beach bar and restaurant for a great seafood lunch or afternoon drink.
The property itself is excellently positioned within the development as it has the advantage of great sea views from 2 levels. As soon as the sun rises over the Mediterranean it pours onto the private terraces in preparation for a great day, relaxing, dining and sunbathing. Puerto de la Duquesa holds the key to the classic balances that form a quality of life that some only ever dream of. Love them or hate them Puerto de la Duquesa also has its fair share of Irish bars and English pubs as expected Football and Rugby dominate and you are sure to receive a warm greeting and excellent food and drink. Don’t forget to take time to browse the shops, enjoy the local restaurants and stroll around the marina and sea wall to admire the yachts and stunning coastal views.
At night is when you can enjoy a different atmosphere in Puerto de la Duquesa, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining out. The marina has over 20 different dining options ranging from tapas bars to English carvery and from Mexican to Indian. Entertainment options are also in abundance. The marina is home to numerous bars which host live entertainment, Karaoke and guest DJ’s so there is no shortage of places to party the night away. To enjoy a quiet drink or a romantic evening the marina is also the place to be. When the sun sets, the marina lights up and enjoys a new romantic charm. Several bars and restaurants have marina views and Puerta Duquesa has wine bars and lounges that cater for all ages and tastes and are sure to provide that perfect romantic setting.
Duquesa / Puerto de la Duquesa area
Being a Frontline Beach property the nearest beach bar is a 15 second walk away from the resort ! This is a very low key beach bar which embraces "true" Spain fresh seafood is caught and cooked daily. For a lazy day on the beach or a quiet evening drink while watching the sunset the beach bar is perfect. Families are very welcome. The nearest traditional Spanish restaurant is a 5 minute walk. All other bars and restaurants are a 30 minute walk or 5 minute car drive.
The beach, bars and restaurants and Puerto Duquesa Marina are all within a 30 minute walking distance from the resort. Car hire is advisable especially for families with young children.
Puerto Duquesa Marina is a picturesque and family friendly marina with an excellent range of bars and restaurants to suit everyones taste and budget.
Sabinillas is a lively beachside town with an expansive promenade lines with bars and restaurants. Sabinillas isnt a main tourist destination and as such retains that traditional Spanish charm.
Manilva Village is a 14th Century white village with stunning views and a traditional Andalucian charm, key attractions are the Roman Baths, Church and Vineyards.
The main festival is San Juan which is held onthe 23rd / 24th June. This reall yis not to be missed! Highlights include Bonfire, Fireworks and Live Music to the early hours !
How to get there
Airports Approx. 1 hour's drive from Malaga airport, 25 minutes drive from Gibraltar airport and 2.5 hours drive from Jerez airport.
Car hire Car hire is not essential but is highly recomended to get the most out of your holiday. Any families with young children must hire a car as amenities are accessible via the beach which is v. difficult with buggies / prams etc. Car hire can be booked through us
Airport Transfers / Taxis Approximate taxi prices are 120Euros from Malaga Airport and 40Euros from Gibraltar airport per 4 people. Airport Transfer prices generally are slightly cheaper but prices do vary.

Further details indoors: Bedrooms - There are 4 bedrooms in total, 2 double rooms and 2 twin rooms sleeping a total of 8 people. The double rooms have fantastic sea views and private terraces. The "4th bedroom" is open plan and the only room on the upper floor of the property. It is fantastic penthouse style room with a vaulted ceiling, bedroom suite, settee and private terrace. Please note that although this room is sufficiently private it does not have a door. Only the master bedroom and 4th Bedroom have hot and cold air conditioning.
Bathrooms - There is an en suite bathroom with bath and overhead shower and double vanity unit. The family bathroom has a bath with overhead shower. There is a guest toilet on the lower floor.
Lounge - The lounge is a large open plan room which incorporates the lounge and dining room which seats 6 people. The lounge is furnished to a very high standard with leather settees and modern artwork. There is hot and cold air conditioning and Sky TV (full package including Sports and Movies !). The lounge has french doors which lead to the large terrace.
Kitchen - The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, oven and hob, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board. There is a utility room from the kitchen for drying clothes etc.
Further details outdoors: Outdoors - The outdoor terracing is spacious and well equipped with 2 dining tables seating 6 on the lower terrace and 4 on the upper terrace. There are 4 sunloungers for relaxing. The terraces are private and the upper terraces have incredible sea views.
Resort facilities - Residencia la Borboleta boasts one of the largest garden and pools for a development of its size. The pool is 300m2 and ideal for both serious swimmers, cooling off and playing in the pool. There is a separate children's pool (the water is approximatly knee height). The gardens have direct access to the beach. From the gardens and the pool there are incredible sea and beach views. The community also has a Paddle Tennis court (racquets not provided). The community is gated and secure. A lifeguard is employed during July and August only.
Beach - The beach can be accessed from the communal gardens, here you will also find a "Churinguito" which is a traditional Spanish beach bar serving fresh sea food and full bar facilities (closed during the winter months). There are also sunloungers and sun shades for churinguito clients.
Parking - There is a double garage underneath the property providing ample private parking for the property. Numerous visitor parking spaces are also in the development.
Further details
Cleaning, Maid service, Linen and Towel - The property will be cleaned before and after your stay only unless additional cleans and change of linen are requested by you at the time of booking. All linen and towels are provided (including tea towels). Pool towels are not provided and it is essential that clients bring their own towels for this purpose.
Changeover Days - Changeover days and your length of stay are completely flexible (subject to availability).
Conditions
A welcome pack is provided for all bookings. All linen and towels are provided except beach towels. Cot and High Chair hire are available upon request for a nominal additional charge. An English speaking holiday representative is availble for general information and emergencies.
Your credit card details will be taken at the time of booking and will be used as a damage deposit. Payment must be made in full to Barrington Holidays at the time of booking by either credit card or bank transfer.
