Marina del Castillo is the most recently completed front-line beach development in Duquesa. This luxury apartment complex has 24hr security, secured underground parking, and communal pool with sauna. The apartment is fitted with a safe, a hydro bath, hot and cold air conditioning, SKY TV (free to air channels only) and Siemens kitchen appliances (including washer/dryer, built-in microwave and dishwasher). The apartment has a 6ft master bed, flat screen TV and leather sofas.
This Marina del Castillo 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment has a covered terrace with dining table and chairs that look out to sea and across Roman ruins and El Castillo (lit up at night) at La Duquesa. A variety of restaurants, cafes and bars are within a flat 5 minute promenade walk at both the pretty port at La Duquesa and the old town ‘El Castillo’. There is a golf course 5 minutes walk away which does short term membership packages.

We provide beach towels (to save you luggage space). There is an espresso machine in the kitchen. There is full WiFi, you need only bring your laptop. The master bedroom has a comfy 6 foot double bed but can also be arranged as two separate single beds if preferred.
Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes with drawers and trouser rack. Master bathroom is en-suite and has double sinks with vanity storage plus a bidet, walls and floors are full marble. There is a shower over the jacuzzi bath. The second bathroom is a shower room with single sink and vanity unit. Both bathrooms have heated towel rails and demisting bathroom mirrors.

There are only a handful of apartment complexes within genuine walking distance of the marina at Puerto de la Duquesa, and El Castillo old town and this is the newest and most modern of those developments. You do not need a car to enjoy a stay in this apartment. As we have local knowledge we can advise about transfers or car hire, restaurants, golf and other activities.
It's location is perfect in that it is easy to walk along the promenade to restaurants, cafes, shops and bars but is not located so as to be bothered by any noise. The terrace overlooking the ruins and out to sea has a beautiful view on the quietest side of the development ensuring peaceful privacy.

Duquesa Golf Course 400m walk from the apartment. 10 minute drive to Finca Cortesin Golf Course, home of Volvo World Match Play Championship. 15 minute drive to Valderrama Golf Course, home of Andalucia Valderrama Masters. Many other courses in Marbella area (Los Naranjos, Los Flamingos, Aloha and Las Brisas) 25 minute drive away. We can recommend a local agent for discounted golf bookings that we have personally used.
Skiing available in Sierra Nevada near Granada. The season is open from the beginning of December until end of March, exact timings subject to weather. This is a 2 and a half hour drive from the apartment which makes a day trip possible.

The Costa del Sol region
This 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment is front-line beach in the attractive port of Puerto de la Duquesa, in Western Costa del Sol, Spain. It is close to Estepona and 30 minutes (40km) drive from the nearest airport at Gibraltar. The key Andalucian airport in Malaga is a 60 minute (80km) drive from the apartment. The glamour of Puerto Banus marina and Marbella are a 25 minute drive or a bus journey away.
The Costa del Sol and Andalucia specifically is varied and has much to offer. From the glamour of Puerto Banus and Marbella, the tradition of Ronda with its' old bull ring, the airport city of Malaga with its' museums and shops, and many quietly beautiful inland villages. There is much rural and agricultural beauty with kilometers of olive farms and a variety of local produce (including vegetables, wine and raisins, olives and oils). The stunning Granada and its' Alhambra palace is within Andalucia with its' neighbouring ski resort of Sierra Nevada where it's possible to ski in the morning and sunbathe in the afternoon.
It has the best climate in Europe and it is rightly named the 'Costa del Sol' boasting more than 300 days of sunshine so is perfect for a stay all year round. There is much to explore or you can stay close to the apartment and relax by the pool or in the beach in front of the development and stroll around Duquesa port and the old castle. There are only a handful of other apartment complexes within genuine walking distance of Duquesa and you do not need a car to enjoy your holiday here. The Duquesa / Marina del Castillo area
The 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment with shared pool is situated on the beach front between Puerto de la Duquesa and Duquesa old town or El Castillo (the castle). The terrace of the apartment looks out to sea, across to Roman ruins and the beautiful castle in the old town Duquesa. From the apartment there are many bars, restaurants and shops within short walking distance.
The marina at La Duquesa has many bars, restaurants, shops and cafes for eating and drinking looking out on the picturesque port. There is American, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Spanish, British (including good fish and chips), and Italian food available. There are several sports bars screening live sport as well as bars with live music. There are outdoor market stalls at weekends in the warmest months with clothes and jewellery. There are also several beach bars right by the apartment serving local fish, paella and other Spanish dishes, sangria and beers. They also hire sunbeds, umbrellas and provide beach side service.
The La Duquesa Golf Club and Hotel is a 10 minute walk from the apartment and includes a spa with treatment rooms and short stay golf membership is available as is day entry to the spa facilities. Other golf courses nearby include San Roque, Valderrama (Andalucia Valderrama Masters) and Finca Cortesin (Volvo Match Play).
There are family activities including Selwo safari park, whale watching and beaches at Tarifa (60 min drive away) for surfing and kite-surfing. The Duquesa beach is immediately in front of the apartment for sandcastle making, investigating rock pools and splashing in the sea. Gibraltar is a 30 minute drive away for duty-free shopping and sight-seeing of the old town and rock. Or there are bus services to the border at Gibraltar, Estepona and Marbella.
This is a largely undeveloped part of the Costa del Sol with many traditional Spanish villages and towns. A 5 minute further beachside walk from the port at La Duquesa takes you to the town of Sabinillas with many more restaurants, shops and cafes. 14 km inland is the much photographed traditional Spanish pueblo of Casares, known as the ´Hanging Village' as the white houses appear suspended on the hillside.

Best airports are Gibraltar (30 min drive) and Malaga (60 min drive). If you would rather relax in the local beaches and Port there is no need to hire a car, you can walk to many bars, restaurants and shops easily. Then consider Gibraltar as the taxi transfers are cheaper and the small airport quick to get through. If you are keen to explore the area and hire a car then Malaga makes sense as it's easy to pick up cheap car hire there. You can hire a car for just a few days from a long-established car rental business in Duquesa Port, a short walk from the apartment. You can get to Gibraltar from the UK with BA (Gatwick), Easyjet (Gatwick, Liverpool), Monarch (Luton, Manchester) and BMI baby (East Midlands). Malaga airport serves many UK and European airports.

My wife and I visit Duquesa every summer and normally stay in a different apartment complex. This year we chose to stay in Marina de la Castillo, and we were very impressed. The complex is perfectly situated for us to make the most of the beach, the Port and the small village nearby called Castillo. The complex is fairly new and is finished to a high standard; it is very secure with keys needed to exit/enter the complex and there is 24 hour security. The pool area was very clean with enough sunbeds for everyone!! The pool itself was large, deep, very clean, and not too cold! The apartment was as described on the website. We were very happy in the apartment and thought that Zoe had provided some little touches which meant a lot i.e the provision of beach towels, hair-dryers in each bathroom, travel plugs in the drawer and a useful information file. The apartment was lovely and quiet yet only moments away from both the pool and the beach, and minutes walk along the beach to both the Marina area and Castillo. We shall be returning again next year as Duquesa as a whole, again lived up to our expectation.

Changeover days are flexible and minimum length of stay is 5 days. Nightly rates are calculated on a pro-rata basis.
30% of the rental cost is taken to secure your holiday with the remaining balance due 8 weeks prior to travel.
Payment is by bank transfer and can be paid in pounds or euros.
Please note a payment of £150 (175 euros) is required with your final balance as security deposit and will be refunded in full (subject to a post-departure check) within 14 days of your return.
