The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
The Costa del Sol has a consistent climate which makes it an ideal year round holiday destination. Ideally located for excursions to Seville and Gibraltar where you can buy duty free goods.
This popular established destination offers international resorts, whitewashed villages and spectacular Moorish palaces. With clear Mediterranean waters and gentle golden sands, this beautiful coastline combines Spanish tradition with the comforts of home. But, this is also an area which is steeped in culture.
The city was founded by the Phoenicians and there are some prehistoric remains such as painted caves and standing stones. Malaga was ruled by a number of different cultures such as the Romans, Vicegothics and the Moors, something which is reflected in its monuments and historical legacy today. The Moors had the most influence on the area and this can be clearly seen in parts of the city such as the historic quarter.
Places to Visit:
Gibraltar and Puerto Banus
Hit the shops on this day out, as you head first for the famous Rock of Gibraltar to snap up some duty-free bargains, then for true shopaholics, browse the chic boutiques and designer stores in upmarket Puerto Banus. Watch the inquisitive Barbary apes. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.
Tangiers
Soak up the culture on this trip to Northern Africa. You must visit the Medina and Kasbah for some shopping/bartering. Local specialty is the carpets. Then followed by a delicious Moroccan lunch and traditional belly dancing show. Well worth a visit.
Granada
A city steeped in history and home to the magnificent Alhambra Palace and Generalife gardens. It is well worth a visit to this striking Moorish palace, framed by the dramatic Sierra Nevada mountains. Again, there is plenty to see and do here.
Duquesa / Golf and Gardens Complex area
Duquesa is situated 11 km South West of Estepona in the western part of the Costa del Sol. The motorway A7 and AP7 provides quick and easy access to the main airports (Malaga, Gibraltar and Jerez) in the region.
Very close by the marina of Puerto La Duquesa provides plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, cafes, car hire and banks. Right next to the port on either side there are "Blue Flag" beaches with promenades.
The town of Sabinillas, 5 minutes away, offers supermarkets, bars, restaurants, banks, beaches, etc. The town has a local market every week.
For golfers, the famous courses of Valderrama and San Rocha are 15 and 25 minutes drive away. The apartment is situated by La Duquesa golf and country club. This golf course is a championship 18 hole Robert Trent Jones designed course and overlooks the Mediterranean with views out to North Africa and Gibraltar. This of course is suitable for professional and novice players alike. There is also a driving range. The country club offers tennis courts (4), restaurant, gym, Turkish bath, jacuzzi, sauna,indoor pool, billiards and a pro-golf shop.
Within half an hour you can be shopping in Estepona, Sortegrande, Marbella or Puerto Banus (which also offers lively night-life), playing one of over 30 golf courses or enjoying beautiful mountain scenery in the Sierra Bermeja or visit the African Wildlife park at Selwo.
There is a water park on the outskirts of Estepona. Within a couple of hours are the historic cities of Cadiz, Seville, Ronda, Cordoba Granada and Jerez, as well as the famous Andalucian "White Villages".
The whitewash hilltop town of up and coming Caseres is definitely worth a visit. A walk through the narrow streets through the town square up to the church at top of the town is a must for the panoramic views across the land and out to sea. I suggest you don't do this in the middle of the day when the sun is at its most powerful.
From nearby Algeciras you can take a day-trip by high speed ferry to Tangier, Morocco. Also from Algeciras you can take the panoramic train journey to Ronda. Allow a whole day to see Ronda.
How to get there
Gibraltar or Malaga- an easy drive, only an hour from Malaga (96km) via A7, AP7 toll and N340 roads, Gibraltar 35 mins to the property.
A pick up and drop service from Malaga airport can be arranged for approx 120 euro for 4 persons each way.

There is a small CD/radio unit and a television/DVD combi which receives UK freeview channels via SKY.
Further details outdoors: The apartment is situated on the ground floor, has a large private terrace and is next to the smaller of the 3 swimming pools on the complex.

Beach towels are not provided and we ask guests not to use the towels supplied at the apartment for pool or beach. An additional foldaway single bed is available for use on request.
Conditions
This is a well kept family apartment and we do not not accept bookings from or for groups/teenagers/singles.
Strictly no smoking except on the terrace.
£50 booking fee required and payment in full required at least 2 weeks before the booking start date to allow for cheque clearance.
