About this location

The Andalucia region

The Costa Del Sol, in southern Spain is the countries sunniest coast with an average of 325 days a year of sunshine and miles of golden sandy beaches with 24/7 entertainment.

There are Tourist information centres in both Puerto Estepona and Puerto De La Duquesa who are very helpful and will point you in the right direction and give you all the information that you need.

The following is a just some of the things to do.

Selwo animal/adventure park (Estepona) covers more than 100 hectares and is home to more than 2000 roaming animals. The park is split into zones featuring different animals, with much to see on foot. There is a large lagoon populated with exotic birds including flamingos and a huge enclosure where 40 different species of birds live freely. The park features animals from all over the world in enclosures that have been recreated to reflect their natural habitats. There are also many shows, classes and exhibitions to keep all the family interested throughout the day.

Aqualand Water Park (Fuengirola) is the coast's biggest water park and will give a whole day of fantastic fun and excitement for everyone. There is also another water park, a bit smaller, Bahia Water Park (Algeciras) but still offers a whole day of fun and excitement.

Riding fun in the sun (Manilva) offers breathtaking views of the Andalucian countryside on horses. The organised events range from 1 hour rides to half day (including refreshments) and full day (with lunch) rides.

Eco Tivoli world Theme park (Benalmadena) you can enjoy the frill of many rides and amusements. There are also several squares where you can enjoy a variety of free shows.

Gibraltar (remember your passports) offers a good day out with loads to do including exploring the tunnels and caves, whale watching, visiting the apes and taking the cable to the top of the rocks. Shopping is cheap with many of the famous British names along the high street.

Duquesa

Estepona

Estepona has so much to offer. It has a large busy town centre with lots of shops, street cafés, bars and restaurants. There are fantastic sandy beaches stretching along the coast line for some 20 km and there are some smaller beach coves too, all of which have an array of very tasteful Chiringuitos.

There is also the beautiful cosmopolitan Port of Estepona with its own share of cafés bars restaurants and entertainment. By night, as the bars wind down, the night clubs just get going so if you're up for it, you can move on to the clubs, with some going through to 6 or 7 in the morning!

To the west of the port lies a lovely quite cove, Playa de Cristo and is perfect for children due to the shallow water and beautiful sands. The blue flag beach is very clean and has two Chiringuitos. There is parking right next to the Beach. To the east of the port there is a magnificent long stretch of beach where you can find your spot without being overcrowded. There are lots of things to do and to keep the children occupied. There are many Chiringuitos and the adjoining Paseo Maritimo has its own bars and restaurants.

The town of Estepona is a mix of very old and quaint, with narrow cobbled streets and then there are the more modern buildings. Away from the shopping, bars and restaurants, there are many places to explore where much of the history and culture of the town still remain unspoilt - with a warm and friendly atmosphere and there are four museums. There is a Wednesday market and Estepona bus garage is close by.

Puerto de La Duquesa

The beautiful cosmopolitan Puerto de la Duquesa is set in a wonderful location between Puerto Banus and Gibraltar and is said to be one of the best marinas in Europe.

Either side of the port there are two clean blue flag beaches with their own Chiringuitos (beach bars with sun beds/ umbrellas).

The marina itself has full marina services with over 300 births for the boating enthusiasts.

The Port has a numerous amount of bars and affordable top class restaurants with great choices which include cuisine from France, Italy, Thailand, China, Mexico, Morocco, UK, Ireland and of course Spain. There is an abundance of fish restaurants, many of which have their own boats that go out for the catch and will feature catch of the day specials.

Most bars are open early in the morning for breakfast and in the evening there is some very good entertainment to suit all tastes.
