Marina del Castillo is a luxurious new resort on the beachfront and has large communal sun terraces plus a communal pool, sauna, underground parking and 24hr security. From the pool area there is secured access to the beach and promenade which will lead you to the picturesque marina of La Duquesa. There you can find restaurants to suit all tastes, bars and cafes and some shops. The beaches of La Duquesa run in front of the resort and are all blue flagged with a handful of Chiringuito beach bars with fresh food served everyday.

Bedrooms - Of the 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 are twin rooms and the master bedroom is a double bedroom with en suite facilities. All three bedrooms are bright and spacious and have hot and cold air conditioning.
Bathrooms - The property has one full bathroom with double sink unit and Jacuzzi bath tub and the other bathroom has a hydro massage shower and is shared between the two twin bedrooms.
Lounge - The lounge is spacious and has a plasma screen TV plus free to air English TV channels. It is open plan, incorporating the dining area which seats 6 people and the lounge which has a 3 seater and 2 seater leather sofas. Direct access to the south facing terrace is through double French patio doors. There is also hot and cold air conditioning in this room.
Kitchen - The kitchen is finished to a very high standard and is well equipped with Siemens appliances. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster, oven and hob, microwave and fridge freezer.

Outdoors - The south facing terrace has lovely outdoor furniture to relax in the sunshine including a 2 seater sofa and 2 comfortable chairs. The views incorporate the historical sites of the Castillo de Duquesa fortress, the Duquesa Roman ruins and the Mediterranean Sea, making this a beautiful place to be both throughout the day and in the evening when the fortress is illuminated.
Parking - There is 1 underground parking space with lift access to the apartment level. Additional off road parking is also located outside the resort.
Cleaning, Maid service, Linen and Towel - The property will be cleaned before and after your stay only unless additional cleans and change of linen are requested by you at the time of booking. All linen and towels are provided (including tea towels). Pool towels are not provided and it is essential that clients bring their own towels for this purpose.
Changeover Days - Changeover days and your length of stay are completely flexible (subject to availability).
All linen and towels are provided except beach towels. Cot and High Chair hire are available upon request for a nominal additional charge. An English speaking holiday representative is available for general information and emergencies.
The Costa del Sol region
The Puerto de la Duquesa is situated almost midway between Castillo de la Duquesa village to the west and the town of Sabinillas to the east. The marina complex is a picturesque port used by fishermen and pleasure craft alike due to the extensive boatyard and off water storage.
Sea fishing is a popular pastime and boats can be hired for reasonable rates. If partying is more your style then catamarans are available to hire that provide a customised half or full day at sea, the route can be chosen by you. Yachting lessons are also available from the local association.
The beaches are “blue flagged” offering a opportunity to relax on wide sandy expanses or take advantage of the activities often available on the Sabinillas side of the port.
The harbour itself is surrounded by attractive apartments and an array of shops bars, restaurants that are essentially traffic free due to the restrictions on vehicle access.
Manilva has previously been both a Roman and a Moorish settlement however the current town dates back to the mid-16 century when King Charles ordered the building of a watch tower to warn of attacks from the Barbary pirates who were persistent in tormenting the southern coast of Spain. By the end of the century a small community had collected around the tower and was located within the Municipality of Casares in 1976 it was given its autonomy and own Villa status.
It has remained mainly Spanish in character and atmosphere, as most of the English and other sizeable nationalities prefer to be on the coast (approx 2 km away) , it therefore still recognises the siesta period where time seems to stand still.
The Duquesa / Marina del Castillo area
The beach, bars and restaurants and Puerto Duquesa Marina are all within a short walk from the resort. Car hire is not essential as all amenities are close to hand. The taxi rank is also a 2 minute walk from the development.
Puerto Duquesa Marina is a picturesque and family friendly marina with an excellent range of bars and restaurants to suit everyone's taste and budget.
Sabinillas is a lively beachside town with an expansive promenade lines with bars and restaurants. Sabinillas isnt a main tourist destination and as such retains that traditional Spanish charm.
Manilva Village is a 14th Century white village with stunning views and a traditional Andalucian charm, key attractions are the Roman Baths, Church and Vineyards.
La Duquesa Golf is one of the leading golf courses in the area. The Duquesa Golf hotel has been recently refurbished and is a 4 star hotel which is appealing to both golfers and those looking for very pleasant surroundings for a drink or to use the hotels facilities.
The main festival is San Juan which is held on the 23rd / 24th June. This really is not to be missed! Highlights include Bonfire, Fireworks and Live Music to the early hours !

This is the 4th time I have stayed in the in Marina del Castillo, each time in a different apartment depending on availability or size of party and I have never been disapointed.
