The Central Scotland/Strathclyde region

Argyll is situated on the west coast of Scotland, within just an hour's drive from Glasgow, and two hours from Edinburgh. Within Argyll is the Cowal Peninsula, an area known as Argyll's Secret Coast because of its undiscovered charm. You won't find crowds of tourists here, but you will find tranquility and stunning scenery, secluded sandy beaches, rugged hills and ancient forests, a land back in time and rich in archaeology.

Cowal is the ideal holiday location for families and couples. The main town, Dunoon, has many amenities for all ages, and there are opportunities for golf, fishing, horse-riding, mountain-biking, quad biking and stalking. There's magic and mystery at Pucks Glen, and the tall trees of the Benmore Gardens will delight. There are many country inns, restaurants and small cafés to visit. The Cowal area is perfect for adventure, relaxation and romance and for the gathering of those special holiday memories.

Dunoon

Rashfield Sheilings are situated just a short drive from Dunoon, beside the River Eachaig, with views to Strath Eachaig and the hills beyond. Behind the lodges is the Benmore Forest, with the magical Pucks Glen, Black Gates Walk, Kilmun Arboretum and Benmore Botanical Gardens easily accessible. A little to the North is Loch Eck, with the Holy Loch to the South.

The lodge owners live nearby and can personally vouch for the abundance of wildlife seen in the area, including Red and Roe Deer, Red Squirrel, Heron, Oystercatcher, Curlew, and Sparrowhawk, to name but a few. The elusive Pine Martin and Otter have also been sighted.

A little further afield are Old Castle Lachlan, Inveraray Castle and Jail, Auchindrain Rural Life Museum, the gothic mansion of Mount Stuart, the stone circles and cairns of the Kilmartin Glen and the Hollow Mountain.

"Amazing break"

I stayed here with my Fiancee for 4 days and we had a fantastic time, The cabin was perfect and the log burner was more than enough to keep us warm. We enjoyed the break so much we have booked again for a week in April and are looking forward to arriving and seeing the fantastic view from the cabin and the peace and quiet.
