Ashcroft 2

Lodge | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4

Key Info
  • Beach or lakeside relaxation
  • Suitable for children over 5
  • No pets allowed
  • Car advised

Our traditional Danish lodge is located in a very nice elevated spot with great views overlooking the Holy Loch and the firth of Clyde.

The lodge is in a private quiet corner within the grounds of stunning Hunters Quay Holiday Village and can be freely accessed via the private entrance road to Hafton castle. See the map location tab.

As our guests have pointed out in there tripadvisor reviews, although the lodge is in the grounds of a holiday village it really does not feel like it due to the excellent private location. That said, it is handy having useful amenities close by depending on what you want from your stay.

Our lodge has been modernised internally to a very nice standard and consists of:

Lounge with TV, DVD player and stereo with iphone/pad/pod connectivity for listening to music.

2 bedrooms (both double beds) one with a TV.

Bathroom with electric shower over bath.

Fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, fridge freezer, wine cooler, oven/hob and microwave.

The large covered balcony has a table with 4 chairs. Being covered you can still enjoy it even if Scotland throws the worst weather at you.

* Electricity/heating is included.

* Fresh towels and bedding are provided.

* Check in/out is flexible when possible.

* I suggest you bring your own choice of shower gel and shampoo.

* Smoking is NOT permitted inside the lodge.

The facilities in the park are excellent if required or you may just want the privacy the lodge offers to chill out, relax and enjoy the views and what Dunoon and Argyll has to offer.

Facilities include Swimming pools, Gym, Secure indoor kids play areas, Restaurant/Bar, Mini Market with off licence, Chippy and other outdoor activities are all available on-site.

Free Wi-Fi is available in the leisure complex, 3G signal is picked up at the lodge.

If required, I can arrange a pass for you giving you access to the swimming pools, gym, sauna and steam room as well as the 2 security barriers within the main park. The costs are:

Adult £7.00 short stay or £10.00 weekly.

Child up to 15 £5.00 short stay or £7.00 weekly.

Under 5 years are free.

The town of Dunoon has a large Morrisons supermarket as well as a Co-op, several other small shops, restaurants, cafes and several friendly pubs.

Takeaway food: River Jade (Chinese) 3 in 1 (Kebab & Pizza) 4 Fish and Chip shops and Bangladesh Tandoori Restaurant/Takeaway.

Eating Out: Chatters (Excellent French/Scottish food) La Cantina (Good italian food) Coylet Inn on Loch Eck (Quality pub food)

Many more are available, see reviews for Restaurants Dunoon on Tripadvisor.

Out of Dunoon if you are up for a scenic drive try Inver Cottage or the Colintraive hotel or continue to a few good eateries in Tighnabruaich taking in the amazing views of the Kyles of Bute on the way, around a 1 hour drive from the Lodge.

I look forward to welcoming you to Ashcroft 2.

The Central Scotland/Strathclyde region

Hunters Quay is a small village, it forms part of Dunoon and is basically on the corner of the Holy Loch and the Firth of Clyde. The area really is stunning, anyone who has been to Dunoon and surrounding area will know exactly what I am talking about. Getting out and about is a must as their really is a lot to do and see.

The lodge is in a quiet private location within the stunning Hunters Quay Holiday Village with excellent loch and sea views.

The grounds have ample land and space around the lodge with only two neighbours, one behind and one to the side and great views to the front.

The location was the main attraction for us when we wanted a weekend escape. From Glasgow it's a 45 minute drive to Gourock, 15 minutes across on the Western Ferries then 5 minutes to the lodge. Alternatively you can drive round via Loch Lomond/Arochar, this takes about 1 hour 45 minutes but the drive is stunning.

"Lovely, quiet part of Dunoon."

The lodge was excellent with everything needed for a short (or long) stay. The area was very quiet as we stayed at the end of January but this was what we expected and wanted. Douglas, the owner, met us at the cabin and was exceptionally easy to deal with.

The surrounding area has a vast amount of countryside to explore and you can always find things to fill the days.

All in all an excellent stay in a lovely, well maintained lodge and we would not hesitate to recommend the accomodation.

Hi Iain,

"Ideal Lodge with Beautiful Setting"

This lodge is perhaps the ideal mixture of privacy, view and central location. Taxi service was readily available, a convenience store was within walking distance and the views of Holy Loch were outstanding. The owners were a delight to deal with and very responsive to any request. Having travelled the world, this location for a getaway has to rank in the top three. Great pubs, historical castles, an active night life and very friendly community. All the way around a great visit.............

Many thanks for your kind words, it was a pleasure contributing to making your holiday in Scotland a memorable one. Keep in touch, Douglas
