The Devon region

Dunkeswell Abbey is a unspoiled area were a few ruins can still be seen today. Holy Trinity Church now marks the spot were the Abbey once stood.

Hemyock remains a viable village, with a school, excellent medical facilities, two garages, two hairdressers, a pub, one convenience store, one post office, two playing fields, a parish hall a community centre and two churches.

The Culm river runs through the village. Hemyock was once the home of St.Ivel dairy factory.

Honiton is a market town, known for its lace making, Kate Middleton's wedding lace was produced here. The town is also know for its pottery.

Retail stores such as Tesco, Homebase, Argos and WH Smiths can be found here.

Taunton and the city of Exeter are within east reach.

Dartmoor and Exmoor not far, as are the beaches along the Devon coast line, ( Jarassic coast) Sidmouth, Beer, Exmouth and Dawlish.

Dunkeswell Abbey

Apple Barrel Barn is in the outstanding natural beauty area of the Blackdown Hills.

A range of hills along the Somerset-Devon border in the south-west of England.

The Blackdown hills are a sparsely populated and much of the land is used for dairy farming.

Grasslands, meadows, and woodlands support an extensive population of birds, such as owls,and nightjars, also butterflies.

Hedgerows and woodland are made up of ash, hazel, willow and oak, which support the dormouse, common lizards, and bats.

The Madford river homes otters and kingfisher.

Roe deer are easy to spot, and are often seen in the garden.

Dunkeswell Abbey, was a Cistercian monastery and a offshoot of Forde Abbey., it was founded in 1201 by William Briwere.

The Abbey was closed in 1539 and granted to Lord Russell. It was mostly demolished, though a small section still remains.

In 1842 a parish Church was built on the site.
