Our house is a holiday home situated on West Waterford Golf and Country Club approx 10 minutes drive from the bustling historical town of Dungarvan Co. Waterford. It consists of 2 bedrooms - one double and one twin and can accommodate 4 people. There is a bathroom upstairs complete with shower and there is a downstairs toilet and washand basin. Accommodation on the ground floor consists of an open plan layout. The sitting room contains a wood burning stove and a vaulted ceiling and 2 steps lead you to the kitchen/dining room on a lower level. All mod-cons are to be found in the kitchen such as microwave oven, dish washer and washer/drier. Outside, the house has its own private patio complete with table and chairs - ideal for a barbeque on summer evenings. The grounds surrounding the house are planted with a wide variety of bee and butterfly loving plants.

There is a tennis court on site for residents and the club house is 5 minutes walk away.

The golf course is an 18-hole award winning course designed by Eddie Hackett and is renowned for its friendliness to visitors.

Dungarvan Town has many atmospheric pubs providing pub grub and many hold Irish music sessions especially during the summer months. There are quite a few restaurants scattered throughout the town, the most well known probably being the Tannery owned and run by Paul Flynn who writes each week in the Sunday Times. There is a wide selection of supermarkets in the town should you wish to cook for yourself. There are 2 free children's playgrounds in Dungarvan as well as several free car parks.

Dungarvan has its own castle, St. Johns, dating from the 15th/16th Century. St. Mary's Church of Ireland also dates from that time and one often encounters tourists examining ancient headstones in the adjoining graveyard.

Dungarvan is a coastal town and this year has opened its own marina. The beach at Clonea is 10 minutes drive away and a little further east is the pretty beach of Stradbally - the beginning of the Copper Coast Drive which leads to Tramore and Waterford City. If one heads west from Dungarvan one will arrive in Youghal Town with its magnificent beach and eventually on to Cork City. Other places of interest in the surrounding area are Lismore Heritage Town, Mahon Falls and the Comeragh Mountains, Ardmore with its award winning 5 star hotel the Cliff Top.

The South East Ireland region

Dungarvan Co. Waterford is the gateway to the South East. If you like the outdoor life then this is the area for you! There are mountains to climb - The Comeraghs, Valleys to walk - the Nire Valley, oceans to swim - Clonea beach, Youghal Beach, Tramore Beach, golf to play - West Waterford Golf Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and Dungarvan Golf Club, cycle paths in and around the town to the beach and bike rental shop in the town, woods to wander - Colligan and Glenshelane Woods.

If it's Irish pubs you want then the atmosphere in Dungarvan is right up your street, many having music at the weekend especially during the summer months. There are retaurants and pubs selling pub grub with prices to suit all pockets. Dungarvan is an historical town. St. John's Castle has been restored and re-enactments of local battles take place there during the summer months. Visit St.Mary's Church of Ireland and its adjoining graveyard as well as the local Museum. The Heritage Town of Lismore is a short distance away with its magnificent castle overlooking the river Blackwater and is the seat of the Devonshire Family.

Dublin City, Waterford City, Kilkenny City, Cork City and the International Ferry Port at Rosslare are all easily accessible from Dungarvan.


The house is located in a mature, planted landscape of communal gardens but has its own private patio. There is a tennis court on site for residents and the club house is 5 minutes walk away. The area is surrounded by hills and one wakes to the sound of cattle it being a rural area. There are many country lanes suitable for leisurely walks.
