About this location
The Province of Ulster region
Errarooey is a stunning unspoilt area of Donegal. It's hard to put in words how truly beautiful it is. The golden sandy beach has to be seen to be believed. The views of the mountains, ocean and islands will calm your soul and soothe your mind. This tranquil area is dotted with megalithic structures as man has marvelled at its beauty for thousands of years. The area has numerous rivers and lakes for anglers. The surrounding area is steeped in history from Colm Cille to Cromwell.
The places of interest are too many to mention but they include Glenveagh National Park, Ards Forest Park, Ray Church, Dunfanaghy Workhouse and Dunlewey Centre. Errarooey is in the Cloughaneely area in between the towns of Dunfanaghy and Falcarragh. Errarooey marks the start of the Gaeltacht which is the Irish speaking area of Donegal. Dunfanghy is a lively sea side town with plenty of bars and restaurants. The local farmers market takes place on a Saturday during the summer months.
Falcarragh is the main Irish speaking town in the area. There is a lively market in Falcarragh on a Friday morning. The traditional Shamrock Bar sells the best Guinness is the area (in our opinion!) Both local towns offer all visitors a 'céad míle fáilte!' A hundred thousand welcomes!
The area is full of outdoor activities including fishing, surfing, hiking, walking, horse riding and golfing.
There are many festivals including the Errigal Arts Festival (www.eaf.ie) Dunfanaghy Summer Festival and The Dunfanghy Jazz & Blues Festival (www.dunfanaghyjazzandblues.com). The local surf school www.narosalife.com is a must for both kids and adults alike.

"Absolutely brilliant holiday in a picture perfect house!"
I highly recommend this amazing house in picturesque setting in beautiful Donegal! The house is perfect - all mod cons - very well equipped - large comfortable rooms all with views of the beach and mountains. So much to do nearby like horse riding, golf, water sports and lovley shops and pubs offering Irish fayre. We had a blast and have already booked to come back in the summer.

"A modern, clean cottage in a superb location, providing the perfect place to get away from it all."
We spent a week at Barley Corn House in August 2012. Having booked at short notice we were a little concerned that we might have to compromise on quality, but on arrival our fears proved unfounded.
The house is situated on a magnificent, elevated site overlooking the ocean, providing incredible views as the light on the water changes throughout the day, culminating in fantastic sunsets.
The beautiful, golden sand beach is a short walk away, and is usually completely deserted. Dunfanaghy and Falcarragh are a ten minute drive from the house.
As a base to tour the North West Donegal region it is ideally situated, with surfing, horse riding, fishing and golf within easy reach. And, as a place to get away from it all, it is hard to beat.
The house itself is really well equipped, and the spacious kitchen contains an extensive collection of cooking utensils.
The owners were really helpful, friendly and accommodating.
We would love to return soon.

Well equipped house, well kept.
Although the access is a little tricky, the elevated location gives uninterrupted panoramic views of beach and mountains. Only 10 mins by car from Dunfanaghy or Falcarragh.
Would definitely return.
