The Lothians region

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Located on the south east coast of Scotland, the lively seaside town of Dunbar is ideally situated for touring and exploring the area. With impressive sandy beaches and plenty of pubs, restaurants, museums and leisure facilities, the town offers something to satisfy all tastes, including the Seabird Centre at North Berwick Harbour, Tantallon Castle and the Museum of Flight, where visitors can walk under the wings of Scotland's Concorde. The world famous diving site at St Abbs is close by, and beaches at Cove and Coldingham offer an incredibly scenic backdrop to coastal walks. Nearby Cockburnspath lies on the eastern extremity of the Southern Upland Way and is a long distance footpath from the west to east coast of the country. A short drive or train journey north will take you to Edinburgh – a vibrant city with a wonderful arts culture -whilst Berwick-upon-Tweed and Lindisfarne are just a short drive south.
