The South/Borders region
Within Ayrshire there are many quality golf courses to choose from. The west coasts offer good opportunities to fish. Choose beaches or the inland hills and forest walks. Galloway Forest has marked paths and plenty of wildlife to see. Culzean Castle NT, sitting on the cliff edge, with its Country Park, has many craft and outdoor weekends. Travel south to Stranraer and take a day trip to Ireland. South of Stranraer is the picturesque village of Portpatrick with its harbour, craft shops and a good selection of restaurants. Travel north and visit the birth place of Robert Burns, the Ayrshire poet, at Alloway along with the famous 'Auld Haunted Kirk' featured in his poem Tam O'Shanter. Ayr 15 miles, is a traditional seaside town with good shopping, restaurants, indoor sports facilities and racing. Glasgow, the European city for designer shopping, is only 45 minutes by train from Ayr. Glasgow/Prestwick airport 20 miles.

Take the A79 signposted towards Ayr, turn left onto B743 Bypass, at the next roundabout take 2nd exit for the A77 to Ayr and Stranraer. Once past Ayr you will pass through Minishant and Maybole head straight through Maybole do not turn off then you will come to Kirkoswald. Turnberry is just 2 miles outside Kirkoswald. Turn left into the complex.
By Air from Glasgow Airport – 54 miles (approx)
Take the M8 towards Glasgow and then the M77 to Kilmarnock. Take the A77 to Ayr and Stranraer. Once past Ayr you will pass through Minishant and Maybole head straight through Maybole do not turn off then you will come to Kirkoswald. Turnberry is just 2 miles outside Kirkoswald. Turn left into the complex.

By Ferry –
There are 2 ports in this area Cairnryan which runs a service to and from Larne, Northern Ireland and Stranraer which runs a service to and from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Both are operated by Stenna Line and offer excellent facilities and services. They both offer multiple daily crossings.
