The Cumbria/Lake District
The Lake District plays host to some of England's best known and most beautiful scenery. While the central area, around Windermere and Ambleside, attract most of the visitors, those in the know head to less frequented spots, such as the Lake District's south-western peninsula. Here the mountains meet the coast to give dramatic and unique vistas. With a wide range of tourist attractions, historical sites and leisure activities, this part of the Lakes has so much to offer we are sure you will want to return again and again.
Bank End Cottage is at the start of the Duddon Valley - the inspiration of many of William Wordsworth's poems. One of the hidden gems of the Lake District, here you can truly relax and appreciate the slower pace of life coupled with wonderful scenery.
Nearby can be found Harter Fell, the Ulpha Fells, Dow Crag and Coniston Old Man. Yet better known areas - such as the Langdale and Wasdale valleys together with the towns of Hawkshead, Ambleside and Grasmere - are but a relatively short drive away.
This property is a couple of minutes away from the historic market town of Broughton-in-Furness with its picturesque market square and excellent family run shops. In and around Broughton you will also find several award-winning pubs. With many offering good quality food alongside their real ales and roaring fires, you will be spoilt for choice as to where to dine out.
Family days out include the South Lakes Wild Animal Park at nearby Dalton, where you can see Amur and Sumatran tigers, Muncaster Castle with its owl sanctuary and adventure playground, Eskdale minature railway, the Lakes Aquarium and boat trips on Coniston Water and Lake Windermere.

"lovely cottage in a beautiful place"
We went to the Bank end cottage to celebrate Persian New Year and we really enjoyed it. The cottage itself was very comfortable, nice and tidy and the area was wonderful. We really enjoyed every second of our holiday.

This cottage is situated in the beautiful Duddon valley, quite secluded but still giving our holiday guests easy access to a range of attractions and activities. I look forward to welcoming you back.
