About the home

As the name suggests, Aerie is perched high on a hill above Dubrovnik, offering stunning views of the Old Town, the Adriatic Sea, and Lokrum Island. Guests of this studio apartment may enjoy the views from either their own private balcony or a large shared terrace. Amenities include air conditioning, satellite TV, wireless Internet, kitchenette, coffee maker, kettle, hairdryer, sofabed, baby cot on request, and parking.

Old Town may be reached in 10-15 minutes by foot, but the return trip will take longer as it requires nearly 300 stairs. However, the views are well worth the climb and for those arriving by car there is free street parking just 3 flights of stairs below. Your friendly host goes out of her way to make sure her guests have everything they need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The combination of spectacular views, spotless accommodation, and superior hospitality have made Aerie a favourite for visitors to Dubrovnik!

Dubrovnik is built on a steep hill, so stairs are a way of life here. Aerie apartment is only 3 flights of stairs above street level. Old Town may be reached in 10-15 minutes by foot, but the return trip will take longer as it requires nearly 300 stairs. Fortunately, taxis are plentiful and affordable - a ride from the Old Town to the apartment will cost approximately 40 Kuna (6 Euro).

Conditions

There is a 3-night minimum requirement for this apartment. Shorter stays may be accepted at a 20% higher price.

A 20% deposit is required to be paid by credit card at the time of booking. The balance is due in cash on arrival.

The Dubrovnik / Ploce area

Ploce is a quiet residential neighborhood and is very popular among visitors to Dubrovnik. Its position high on a hill ensures some of the most spectacular views of the Adriatic and Old Town below. Old Town can be reached in 10-15 minutes by foot, but the return trip usually takes longer as it involves an uphill climb. But the serene atmosphere and magnificent views make the climb well worthwhile.

By air: Dubrovnik airport (DBV) is served by many airlines including, but not limited to: Aer Lingus, Air Nostrum, Austrian Airlines, Blue 1, British Airways, ClickAir, Croatia Airlines, Easy Jet, Estonian Air, FlyBe, German Wings, Iberia, Jetairfly, Jet2com, Lufthansa, Luxair, Norwegian Air, SAS, Tarom, TUIfly.

By ferry: Jadrolinija operates international ferry service to Dubrovnik from Bari, Italy, as well as along the Croatian Coast.

The best way to get to the apartment is by taxi. We can arrange a transfer from the airport to the apartment at a price of 220 Kuna/30 Eur for 1-3 persons or 300 Kuna/40 EUR for 4-8 persons.

“Your service was excellent and the arrangements you made for us were great, both in relation to the room and in booking our taxi to the airport. Aerie was very comfortable and the owner was very helpful and kind, providing coffee in the mornings and beer when we arrived. Instructions about how to get to the house were not very clear so we ended up wandering around a bit with the map we had had to print out (we were coming by bus and were just told when to get off but not what to do after that). The house was noisy in the mornings (from 7am onwards) with lots of door banging – we couldn’t work out why everybody had to slam doors BUT we didn’t say anything at the time so it is our own fault for not mentioning it. We would definitely recommend your service to others and the location of Aerie and the owner were brilliant.”

“We were very pleased with our apartment, Aerie. The location and its amenities was described very accurately, particularly the truth about "300 steps" to the old city! We knew what to expect before we arrived, so were not at all shocked by the step situation. The apartment itself was clean and relatively well stocked. We would suggest that the apartment supply a bit more dishes and electronics, specifically at least a toaster oven and a microwave. As there was next-to-no room for food storage or prep, I would suggest putting in another work surface that could be use for kitchen-type efforts.

The only inconvenience we incurred was not being able to get internet access in the room. The owner did have a router, but I had to go stand in a very specific place on her front porch to get internet service. As she lives there with her family, I felt like I was intruding on their privacy having to stand there to do my internet work. She told me, "Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't." I'm not sure if her problem is with her service or a more general issue with the area at large. Either way, I would recommend she invest in a stronger router or perhaps put one in another location so that all apartments have good service access. Overall, you all did a wonderful job and we were very, very pleased with your level of professionalism and service. We will be happy to refer you to others we meet and we would certainly work with you again when we return to your beautiful part of the world!”

“Aerie Apt 1 was perfect for us: a compact studio apartment which was very clean and tidy. The view is spectacular- arriving in a thunderstorm and opening the shutters to see than view from the balcony was stunning. The owner could not have been more helpful throughout our stay. She gave us drinks upon arrival and even ordered a pizza delivery for us as the weather was so bad the evening we arrived. During the week we were the only guests as we were out of season and we had freshly baked cakes waiting for us after several of our sightseeing trips. We cooked basic meals in the studio—it is a small kitchenette but just about adequate for this.

The steps were quite hard going but there is the option of walking via the road which, although it is a longer route, is easier. The main advantage to visiting Dubrovnik in November was that the city was not overrun by tourists and it was pleasant strolling around the old stone streets inside the city walls - it did get a bit more crowded when the cruise ships arrived for a few hours and we could imagine it would be a bit too busy for us in the height of the season. Thank you for a very pleasant holiday.”
