The Dubrovnik Riviera/Islands region

George Bernard Shaw once said :"If you wanted to see heaven on earth you had to come to Dubrovnik!". Dubrovnik, the most southern Croatian city, is a touristic, cultural, administrative, economic and educational center of Dubrovnik's-Neretva's county. Dubrovnik is protected by hills Zarkovica (321 m) and Srdj (419 m), Dubrovnik is surrounded, from the seaside, by a group of islands known as Elaphit Islands (Daksa, Kolocep (Kalamota),Lopud, Sipan, Olipa, Jakljan). Dubrovnik and it's surroundings enjoy Mediterranean climate. Isolation is average 2600 hours yearly. Average sun shine is 7 hours a day, and cloudy days are very rare. Average yearly temperature is 17°C, while average winter temperature is 10°C and average summer temperature is around 26°C.

Average summer sea temperature is 22°C. Bathing season on open areas starts as early as April, sometimes even sooner and lasts to the end of October or even later.

In this mild climate Mediterranean vegetation flourishes as well as many types of aromatic herbs like lavender, myrtle, rosemary, sage and others. Grape vines, olives, figs, oranges, kiwis and lemons are grown on plantations in the area.Dubrovnik has a tradition of gardening and cultivating plants from all over the world.

Dubrovnik is a historic city with a worlds famous cultural heritage and beauty, proudly called "The pearl of the Adriatic".The Old Town of Dubrovnik has unique political and cultural history (Republic of Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik statute from 1272), worldwide famous historical monument heritage and beauties enrolled in UNESCO registry of worlds cultural heritage. Dubrovnik is one of the most attractive and the most famous cities of Mediterranean.

Dubrovnik has a unique political and cultural history, the prosperity of the city of Dubrovnik has always been based on maritime trade. In the Medieval period, as the Republic of Ragusa, it became the only eastern Adriatic city-state to rival Venice. Supported by its wealth and skilled diplomacy, the city achieved a remarkable level of development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries. Ragusa (Dubrovnik) was one of the centers of the development of the Croatian language and literature, home to many notable poets, playwrights, painters, mathematicians, physicists and other scholars.Besides its extraordinary natural beauties and preservation of heritage, Dubrovnik is one of the most prominent tourist resorts, a seaport and the center of the Dubrovnik-Neretva county. Dubrovnik is city of hotels , beautiful surroundings , envious ecological standards and touristic offerings attractive all year around. Apart from its outstanding natural beauties and well-preserved cultural and historical heritage, Dubrovnik also offers high-quality visitor opportunities.

The bluest point one can spot on the Earth from outer space is the Adriatic...the incomparably unpolluted and clear sea that washes the shore and islands of the Dubrovnik area. Heterogeneous and diversity are the main features of the beaches in Dubrovnik and its surroundings, so that every visitor can find the one that suits him best: shallow sandy and pebble beaches for families with children, romantic and sheltered coves, fashionable beaches with the most up-to-date facilities, night parties and sports programs and quiet little bays and rocks for lovers of diving.

"Homely atmosphere in the middle of the old town"

We were really lucky to find such hospitality at "Ivancica" when we arrived at 23 p.m. who let us stay without problems even though we didn't book before. The apartment is perfectly located in the middle of old town Dubrovnik where you can reach everything (market, shops, churches, bus...) in two minute walking distance. The apartment is very comfortable, has everything what you need, a clean bathroom, a kitchenet, where you can cook your own meals, a big living room with a comfortable couch and TV, and a bedroom with a window above the double bed, so you can look at the stars and the clouds, perfekt! Ivana and Stepjan are great hosts and helped us with our wishes and questions. They also surprised us with little snacks like orange slices or grilled vegetable plates, so we felt very much at home and stayed almost a week instead of just one night! If you go to Dubrovnik we definitely recommend to stay there! :-)

Thank you for being our guests and thank you for nice words!
