The Dubrovnik Riviera/Islands region
There are many beautiful places in the world, however, the people of Dubrovnik claim their city to be the most beautiful. The warm, southern climate, the spacious blue sky, the emerald green and dark blue crystal clear sea depths touching the rocky shore and spilling into numerous coves and bays, onto sandy beaches and steep reefs decorated with the lushest Mediterranean and subtropical flora. Under the mild Mediterranean climate, Dubrovnik is bathed in a sea of sun, blossoms and ripe fruits of the orange and lemon trees even in the winter months. There are over 250 sunny days per year, with an average annual temperature of 17°C, while the mean winter temperature is 10°C and summer temperature is 26°C. The average summer sea temperature is about 21°C. The swimming season in the sea begins in April, sometimes even earlier, and lasts to late October and later, while swimming in indoor hotel pools is available year round. Dubrovnik and its surrounding areas cover the southernmost region of the Republic of Croatia and its Dalmatian province, from Neum in the west to Sutorina and Ponte Ostre in the east. The region borders on the Federation of Bosnia Herzegovina to the north and the Republic of Montenegro to the east. This long, narrow coastal belt under the karst Dinaric mountains and low mountain peaks spreads to the east in the less karst Konavle Polje (Fields), and includes Snijeznica Mountain and its mountainous region, and this is its most inland point. One side borders with Herzegovina, the other with Montenegro, with the border line following the mountain peaks and at certain points coming to within a few hundred metres of the sea (such as at Duboka Ljuta).
Great Onofrio Fountain
Opposite the Church of Holy Salvation, next to the Pile Gates, is the magnificent fountain built by Onofrio della Cava. The fountain was greatly damaged in the earthquake and its beauty and functionality impaired. It was erected as a celebration of the completion of the new waterworks in 1438, which thus supplied the city with water from the Dubrovnik River, 12 kilometres away. This fountain, with the beauty of its architecture and the gurgling of its clean water, was intended to preserve the memory of this significant technical and important feat. As a favourite meeting place for the city's youth, it entered into the decor, along with the Small Onofrio Fountain, in the Renaissance comedy "Novela od Stanca" by Marin Drzic, the greatest Dubrovnik comedy writer.
Between the Sponza Palace and the Church of St. Blaise (Vlaho) is a stone column with the figure of a medieval warrior in arms bearing a sword and shield, carved into the column. It was carved by domestic master Antun Dubrovcanin in 1418. The statue is a symbol of the freedom of Dubrovnik and the flag of the Republic always flies upon this column during ceremonies, while government proclamations and announcements were read to the people from the column's pedestal. The legend of how this column came to be is tied to the legend of the legendary hero Orlando (Rolando) who - according to the legend - helped to liberate Dubrovnik from the dangerous sieges of Arab pirates in the 8th century, and the citizens erected this column in his honour. Today, a ceremony before Orlando and the raising of the "Libertas" flag on the column marks the opening of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival every year.

"Fabulous apartment, close to Old Town"
This is a great apartment for a couple, plenty of space to unwind and relax, with everything you need and more. Very friendly and helpful owner and family, but not intrusive.
Close to old town (5 mins) walk, little longer to the sea, plenty of steps which help work off the ice cream!

"great apartment, great city Dubrovnik"
The apartment was better than expected and after reading previous reviews, our expectations were high ! It's in a very good location, and yes there are steps, but you get used to them ! Denis did all we could ask to make our stay most enjoyable. The Dubrovnik card was good value, and the local buses were very good - frequent and quick - get a copy of the bus map from the bus kiosk near the tourist office - it tells you the routes of each of the buses.

Getting picked up at the airport and returned by Dennis is an excellent add on to what is an excellent apartment very well placed to access Dubrovnik .He is also very helpful if required during your stay .The apartment has everything you could need for your stay , and more ! However , be aware of the significant number of steps to reach it , not for the unhealthy ! I would certainly recommend this apartment .

"Fantasitc stay in fantastic town"
Had a fantastic holiday in Dubrovnik which was made all the better for staying in this apartment. It looked great and was very neat with all the things you need for a self catering apartment.
Denis arranged a pick up from the airport when we arrived and dropped us off at the end of the holiday which helped with cost of a taxi and just made things easy.
As said in previous reviews, there are a lot of stairs to get to the apartment but this really didn't bother us and there are stairs everywhere in Dubrovnik so expect them. The location of the apartment was superb as only 5 mins walk to the Old Town and beaches and far enough away from any noise.
Weather amazing, place fantastic and it made for a terrific holiday. Big thanks to Denis
