About the home

Long Lane is right in the heart of Dublin city centre - where the Viking's decided to settle when they invaded one thousand years ago. This music inspired apartment is located here in Viking Dublin just a short stroll from up-market Stephen's Green and Grafton Street. Long lane is also just a stroll away from Temple Bar and along the way there you will pass the famous Marsh's Library (founded 1701 and open to the public) and St Pactrick's Cathedral where Handel's Messiah was first performed live, Christchurch Cathedral in the heart of Viking Dublin and Burdocks famous fish and chip shop. Within easy walking distance you will find the world Famous Guinness Brewery, Jameson's whisky distillery (visitor centre) both of which are Dublin's top tourist attractions. But for those who love live music there is Dublin's famous venues Whelan's and the Village both side by side and just down the street!

Tourists from all over the world regularly visit to photograph the venue that has played host to such legends as Jeff Buckley, Nick Cave, Christy Moore, and Peter Buck and Mike Mills from REM. In recent years Whelan’s has hosted concerts for important new stars such as Damien Rice, Artic Monkeys and the Magic Numbers.

Camden street and Wexford street are in fact two of Dublin's liveliest streets teeming with restaurants (BOBO's Irish Hamburgers is a must and so is Eddie Rockets Diner for some American retro), cafes, bars and shops of all descriptions.

“Never again” Found the keys to get in. No heating, hot water or Internet instructions. Rand Stephen who said open cupboards and turn on switches. When we did the pumps came on and finally gave some heat. Only... more

“Would stay again” OK situated for sightseeing. Close to shops and pubs, not tourist area, which for us is great. Clean and had all we needed.

“Fine apartment 15 minutes away from downtown” We spent 3 nights in this apartment with my children and it worked out just fine. Location is the downside of this apartment. The area is not very nice, it is behind a hospital in a narrow, untidy street. However, it is a safe neighbourhood, and Dublin is so small, you can easily walk to the downtown area. Inside, the apartment is very nice, the furniture is new (obviously everything was purchased in IKEA), bathroom and kitchen are clean, tidy and well equipped. The apartment has a distinct smell of mold, it needs some fresh air every time you arrive. Maybe it is normal in Ireland, it is a humid country. DO NOT TAKE THE AIRPORT PICKUP SERVICE that the apartment manager offers. It is a ripoff. They charged 50 Euros for it and the driver actually got lost on the way and drove around the city with us for nearly 2 hours!!! He had to ask for directions in shops. When we finally arrived and he managed to open the doors, he couldn't help us to turn on the hot water and the heating, so the first night was very unconfortable. If you take a taxi from the airport, it costs only 20 to 25 Euros and takes only a half hour. Response: Dear Guest, Thank you for your 4/5 star rating. We sincerely apologise for the drive to the apartment from the airport. This was our driver's first mission and we wrongly assumed he knew his way about the city! This will not happen again. A recent water leak had caused the development of some mildew and this too has been rectified. Our aim to always provide a top quality apartment at very reasonable prices in the city centre and we strive to maintain very high standards. We were happy to see that you give high ratings for the apartment in general and especially for the kitchen and bathroom and we are delighted that despite these two teething issues you are happy to recommend Banjo to your best friend. Finally as a small gesture we are happy to refund the cost of your trip to the airport. Yours sincerely, Stephen.
