Gästehaus Gauernitzer Hof
Guest house | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 12
Our Guest house is a typical farm house from the 1700's which had been renovated and extended in 1997 to be run as a B&B but we also offer self catering holiday lettings. We have three self contained apartments with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 3 lounges with dining areas. Each apartment has a kitchen, television and access to BBQ, table tennis, patio and free parking. Additional bedding can be provided on a double Sofa bed in one of the lounges. There is a separate entry from the main house but all apartments are connected by a lovely outdoors sitting area that is shaded by walnut trees with many birds singing their songs and covered by a roof. Our guest house also has a beautiful garden, plenty of parking, a small children play ground, a fire place room (sits 12 - 14 persons) where breakfast is served and on request can be booked for family parties or dinner. In addition there is a gorgeous wine cellar available for use that is heated by a Wood burning stove. It comfortably sits 20 People around a huge table. A speciality of the house is the opportunity to try outstanding traditional home cooked German food by the owners of the house who also run a small but very successful road side cafe/diner. Overall our guest house is the perfect place for a get together of a group of 10 (max 12) that still enjoy to have their own space. We are conveniently located between the historic and beautiful towns of Meissen and Dresden along the idyllic Elbe river valley with an outstanding cycle path network along the Elbe.

"Friendly, warm and wonderful!"
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Gastehaus Gauernitzer Hof over New Year 2012/2013 - it was one of the most enjoyable New Years we've ever spent!
We were welcomed by Karin and Charlie so warmly and looked after in one of their well-appointed, self-contained apartments; and enjoyed a hearty, fresh and substantial German breakfast each morning! We enjoyed making full use of the wood-burning stoves and were kept very toasty in the large breakfast room and traditional wine cellar (of course, a couple of beers helped too!)
On a couple of occasions we had the pleasure of Karin's home-cooked dinners: these are certainly something to look forward to after a day in the cold! She's a talented lady - she also makes some beautiful pottery, that decorates the breakfast room (and we were a bit upset as we'd travelled handluggage only and couldnt find room to bring any home!)
All in all - local food, local brews and plenty to see and do only a short drive away - I can only reccomend this place highly, and we both look forward to coming back.
Thank you very much Claire, it would be a pleasure to have you stay with us again in the future.
