The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region

Provence was a district of France dating named after the Roman Provincia Romana. The boundry was roughly from the Rhône to Italy and the Mediterranean to the central Alps, and included the departments Bouches-du-Rhône, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Var, and parts of the Alpes-Maritimes and Vaucluse.
Climate 300 days of sunshine. Places of interest : the famous Verdon canyon, with lake Sainte Croix, lake Saint Cassien, the Napoleon's road from Nice to Dignes les Bains. Also the coast with beaches like Saint Tropez, Saint Raphael, Sainte Maxime, aqualand in Frejus, many boat trips (from a few hours to a full day).
The Draguignan / Montferrat area
The Draguignan region of Var is wonderfully picturesque. The forested hills of the south of France are perfectly peaceful, with scattered medieval villages providing plenty to amaze and inspire visitors. The towns of the Draguignan area are amazing to look at, with a unique type of hectic, scruffy beauty.
Things to do in Draguignan, France
There are a great number of national and local walking, mountain biking and horse riding trails throughout the Draguignan area of Provence. The Gorges du Verdon are fantastic for walking and climbing, and if you visit the Draguignan Tourist Information offices, or in fact any of the local tourist information offices, you can find out where to hire a mountain bike or road bike for a full exploration under your own steam.
Climbers in particular favour villas in Draguignan, France as a base for exploration, as there are a great range of climbing routes waiting to be conquered in the gorges, cliffs and mountains that surround the region. And anyone with an interest will be more than happy in a Draguignan holiday rental property anywhere in the area.
