A truly traditional stone villa, full of character and charm, stylishly decorated with antique pieces. It is located next to world famous beaches (some of them voted as best in Greece and within top 25 in the world based on a CNN survey), offering a totally unique holiday retreat.
The property is a 150 year old mansion which was recently restored to very high standards while respecting the local architecture and culture. It has actually been the home of the current owner's family dating back at least five generations. The property combines its traditional ambience with all modern facilities. It has a very spacious interior and exterior, with plenty of room for the kids to play and the adults to relax, with no worries about the children hurting themselves. In fact, the village is quiet and untouched by tourism (and traffic), a perfect setting for kids to walk around with no fear and play in the streets of the village or the countryside just next to the property. The kitchen is truly fully equipped in order to make cooking a even more joyful activity. Local cuisine cooking lessons can be arranged on-site to make your living in Greece even more unique. As an alternative, you can try Georgia's home-made cooking at the local taverna (5 mins walk) or other Greek specialities in one of the many restaurants around.
The village where the property is located is called Dragano. Dragano seems to be one of Greece's last unspoiled villages. It is uniquely located in south west Lefkada, next to seven of the best beaches of the island (from 4kms - 15kms), some of which are award-winners (Porto Katsiki), whereas it is only 12 kms away from the south part of the island capital, Vasiliki, where one can find all kind of amentities (shops, restaurants, ATM, health centre). Vasiliki also prouds itself for special winds that create the perfect conditions for windsurfing, so why not take this opportunity to start with a new watersport? Dinghy sailing is also very popular with our young friends. Scuba diving lessons or just daily excursions with private boat hire are also some very good choices.
Meli Traditional House can accommodate up to 10-12 people if there are also children in the party.

The Ionian Islands region
With an area of 302.5 square meters and 23,000 inhabitants, Lefkada is the 4th largest island in the Ionian Sea and is located between Corfu and Kefallonia. Lefkada benefits from easy access as it is connected with the mainland by a floating bridge. The island's climate is mild, with long spells of sunshine throughout the year, mild winters and warm but pleasant summers due to the cooling breeze.
Lefkada's coastline is comprised of impressive beaches, peninsulas, capes, coves that make magnificent natural ports towards the east as well as the south side of the island. The west part of the island has steep cliffs that extend down to unique long and sandy beaches. It is said that the island owes its name to its white cliffs in the south part of the island and especially the cape of Lefkatas where, according to the legend, the poet Sapfo jumped off its steep cliffs in despair for her love.
Lefkada is by 70% covered by mountains with the tallest top of all being Stavrota (1.182m) at the centre of the island. As a result of this, it has narrow plateaus, fertile valleys and canyons with rich plantation, while it also has notable flora. It also has many springs, like the known Kerasia springs in Sivros, torrents that form small cataracts like the the Dimosari in Nydri and impressive canyons like the ones in Mellisa of Sfakiotes. In this island one can also visit its traditional settlements up on the mountains as well as at the south-west part of it which stand out for the nature surrounding them, the activities they promise and their local culture.
Dragano village is where Lefkada's delicious honey is produced. A celebration dedicated to honey takes place every year in early August, where one can see how honey is produced, taste it and then enjoy the evening celebrations with the local music. The village is also privileged as it is located next to the best beaches of the island, and surrounded by breathtaking nature.
There are also numerous archaeological pleces to visit in Lefkada island, but also in Epirus. As the island is connected to the mainland via a floating bridge, it makes it ideal for daily excursions to wonderful places in Epirus (We can provide more information on what options exist) . Daily excursions can also be made to Onassis' Scorpios and other small island around it, or even to Kefallonia & Ithaca.
