The Wiltshire region

Downton is just three miles to the north of the New Forest's unique landscape with the many opportunities it affords to visitors for walking, cycling and riding. From Downton there is also easy access to the South Dorset coast with Bournemouth and Poole being about half an hour's drive.

Downton itself is an attractive village, with many attractive, ancient cottages lining its main street and village green. The Cuckoo Fair at the beginning of May is a well known event. The village provides for local shopping needs while the Cathedral city of Salisbury is a fifteen minute drive away and Southampton about half an hour.
