The County Down region

County Down is certainly a golfers paradise with local courses such as Bright Castle golf Club, less that 1km. Downpatrick Golf club, Ardglass Golf Course and the world renowned, Royal County Down in Newcastle.

The town at the foot of the Mourne Mountains, Newcastle, with its many bars, restaurants and amusements lies only a short drive away. Of Course the Mountains themselves are ideal for hill walking.
County Down has many places of natural beauty, Castlewellan Forest Park, Rowallane Gardens, Seaforde butterfly House to mention but a few.

Downpatrick area

Downpatrick holiday home is situated approximatley 2 miles form Downpatrick town centre. Downpatrick is the county town of Down with rich history and strong connection to Saint Patrick, as this is traditionally know as his burial place, at 'Down Cathedral'. The 'Saint Patricks Centre' tells the Story of Irelands Patron Saint. Beside the Cathedral is 'Down Museum'. This is the former Jail and militry barracks where famous United Irish man Thomas Russell was hanged in 1803.It now houses Saint Patricks Heritage Centre tellling the story of the Saint. It also contains a restoration of the goveners residence, where visitors can see fascinating displays about earlier times. Close by is downpatrick 'Railway museum,' the site of the old railway. This is open summer months and festive holidays where old steam trains run regularly.

We are situated 3km from Downpatrick town centre, towards the village of Killough.

Bring your pony/horse with you. We can accomadate it in stables and small paddock beside the house.

Although we allow smoking in the house we would ask that it is confined to the lounge and kitchen areas.

Conditions

A deposit of £100 is required to confirm booking. This deposit will be retained until visitors leave and will be returned within one week of departure if the accomadation is left satisfactorily clean, tidy and with no loss or damage. Booking fees are payable 6 weeks prior to your visit. Please check our inventory of the household appliances when you arrive and report any missing items as soon as possible.
